I had no idea
Fuck this asshole.
Instead of admitting his mistakes and moving on from La Russa, Reinsdorf called in a favor to get his charges dropped
Pop that ziti in the oven, god
In fairness to the Maricopa County people, La Russa is a Hall of Fame baseball person. He's legit. I probably would have dropped those charges, too.
Law & Order: HOF unit
If the man's legit, you must acquit
Not really sure why I'm drawing the line to exclude Sosa and Manny when I'm advocating for Bonds, Clemens and Sheffield, but here we are.
+Sosa and Manny over Kent for me
Also no disrespect to Michael Cuddyer but what exactly are the criteria such that a guy with 7 lifetime MVP vote points and 2 ASG appearances makes the ballot?
Rolen’s the odd man out if you include
I really liked Smyly as an under the radar guy. When healthy, he's got intriguing stuff that has led to some high K totals.
But I never thought he'd get anywhere close to $11M next year. That seems crazy in this market. Good for him after all he's gone through.
I hope my son can grow up to be a shitty LHP and make absurd amount of money for no other reason than he throws with his left arm
What's the word on when Soroka can come back?
It’s the Hall of Fame, not the Hall of Very Good!
lasorda is the biggest “famous person” asshole i’ve ever met and the second biggest reason (bo jackson one) i became an angels fan... but my goodness even i can’t wish death on the man
Playing the game the right way
Abiding by the unwritten rules
I don't remember Bo with the Angels at all. Had to google it to make sure you weren't on crack. KC and CHW is all I remember.
ouch. Kind of burying the lede there
Was just coming to post that, was busy trying to find a good gif for being confused first ;)
Saw the list and had similar thoughts on Latroy Hawkins
That career is much worse than I remembered it, he’d kill to have Cuddyer’s pedigree
Surprised they didn’t go with super fine print with that second piece of info. Major bummer
Also makes you wonder whether they knew this was going to happen when he tried to pitch in the playoffs and he just tried to gut through it, or whether this was caused by him trying to pitch injured.
wish we’d stuck with the name and logo to this day
i really want andruw jones to make the hall of fame.
The awesome CFs from that era need to come together and start a HOF of their own. Jones looks like he's got very little chance. Edmonds, Lofton and Bernie all got dumped off the ballot quickly. Beltran might not get in now because of the Astros' thing.
Those guys were pretty good.
biased but andruw was a clear step ahead of all those guys and it is annoying that he wasnt first ballot much less fighting to even get in.
if he had retired after atlanta before those years with the rangers/dodgers/yankees as a lardo kinda sullied his image, i don't think he woulda had an issue.
I think Jones, Edmonds and Beltran are about the same. I think there's a bit of a gap between them and then Lofton/Bernie. To each their own, though.
think Lofton is a lot more like the first group than with Bernie.
lots of great CFers in those days.
Bernie was my favorite player as a kid and probably my favorite Yankee of that era. Not necessarily the best but very good and fun to watch. Plus he seems like a #1 guy.
I don’t know why, but I’ve never been a fan of Jeff Kent
He's an enormous asshole
He said Vin Scully ‘talked too much’ just because Vin said Kent was benefitting from batting ahead of Manny Ramirez when we traded for him. No one talks shit about Vin. Fuck Jeff Kent
You are correct in terms of WAR. I think the other guys were just a level or two above Lofton at the plate, and Bernie's career is weird compared to a lot of others to the degree it's kind of undervalued by career WAR, IMO.
I just noticed this tag... just gave it a download.
They talk about pitchers using foreign substances. Thought youd be interested in the convo
Yikes. There goes any shot at the HOF for him if he ever had one after the first PED suspension.
That's kind of huge for NYM, though, in that it opens up more money.
where does that money go? mets keep it?
