I can't see a scenario where the Texans trade a star QB who is under contract for four more years. That would be the dumbest shit I've ever heard of. But I guess it's the Texans. Regardless it's not gonna be Miami. Miami isn't gonna pay up what it would take. The hot takes about landing Watson for Tua and #3 are hilarious. The package of picks would need to be massive for the Texans to even consider it.
We've never seen a star QB at Watson's age get traded before I don't think. I think it would shock some people to see the package he could land. Adams just landed the Jets two firsts and I think we can all agree that Watson is harder to replace piece than Adams.
Only way this even comes close to happening is if that relationship is too far beyond repair and he forces them to deal him idk how he does that though and more likely scenario is that they mend their relationship
I can’t see Watson being happy about coming from a team that’s been gutted to going to a new team that’s been gutted to get him.
he’s got the no trade clause so he holds all the cards on approving where he goes if the Texans are crazy enough to trade him
If I'm Houston I'm keeping him and just praying that the relationship can be mended. There's a reason star QBs don't get traded.
Im sure the new GM has a plan laid out. Obviously got the job so Texans probably liked it. He may get buy in from Watson on it once they really sit down and chat
The more I think about it, the team a trade for Watson would make the most sense for is the 9ers. They can cut Jimmy G, clear a ton of cap space and they already have a great young roster so they can afford to send over the draft capital it would take if the Texans sell at a discount. Their window is now and they'd be legitimate SB contenders. If I'm SF I'm offering 3 firsts + a 2nd and make them say no. If I'm Houston I say no, but who knows how badly they want to deal him.
Okay, let's rule out who would not trade for Watson. Seahawks Chiefs Chargers Cards Bills Titans Packers edit
Wouldn’t the accelerated guaranteed money Watson is owed from Houston make him almost impossible to trade? The Texans would take something crazy like a 30 mill cap hit the next 2 years just to move him. Just checked it was a 74 mill guaranteed deal, they’re responsible for that over a 2 yr period right?
I'd sign up the Packers to be in a 3 team deal where we send Live to the Texans and we get a first round pick back.
Any AFC team. It would be a disaster if the Texans ever made the playoffs again (lol) and Watson kept knocking them out. I sense a Jimmy Grapes and boat of picks for Watson and the Texans hire Josh McDaniels and Texans fans jump ship. The signing bonus is what would accelerate.
Jared Goff is older than all of the AFC QBs while also being the youngest NFC QB by 11 years, up to 17 years.
3/4 of the remaining AFC QBs were 1st rounders from the 2018 draft. And then there’s Josh Rosen and Sam Darnold.
Looking forward to our first father/son QB duo some day. Gordon Howe did it in hockey with two of his son for a number of years (and led the league in points one year so it’s not like he was some washed up 40+ year old). Not sure if it’s happened elsewhere.
pete may be dumb enough to give up multiple firsts for saquon and our gm may be dumb enough to turn it down immovable force, unstoppable object and whatnot
When our defense was baller as fuck, this was a decent idea. Now that our defense is mediocre at best, we should be upgrading the OL to protect Russ and let the passing game rip.
