Read something interesting back when Macron was elected in France, that their turnout for that election was roughly in the 70% range, and that was considered historically low for them. And when compared to our history it would be one of if not the highest turnout level
One thing I’d like to understand regarding Trump improving with his non white share, does this actually mean he’s gaining votes or is turnout so much higher meaning that even though he’s gaining in % he’s still losing a larger number of total votes in this voter block.
for people not in the trump thread Talking Head / Merica is now a full throated trump guy, he replies to every Biden post with "WHEN ARE YOU LEAVING YOUR BASEMENT"
If I requested a mail in ballot, but threw it away (on accident), do I have to do anything extra to vote early in-person? I know some said you had to write void on your mail ballot, but I'm pretty sure I threw it away on accident.
for that amount followers his tweets have a pretty striking lack of engagement. just screaming into the void
I just keep having to remind my self that this racist cock sucker won 2016 by about 70k votes across 3 states. Which is the political equivalent of throwing a Hail Mary from your 1 yard line with expiring and completing the fucking pass for a game winner.
Speaking of TH -- Today's episode of Behind the Bastards is on Jordan Peterson edit - oops wrong thread but whatevs
We are going to have a runoff since 5 dem candidates refuse to back out for Warnock and ballots have already been printed.
This is atrocious. The DNC needs to black list the shit out of these assholes. Senate Dems are such pussies. McConnell would publicly hang someone in the same scenario.
The number 2 guy on the Dem ticket is Matt Lieberman whose claim to fame is his father who went from Dem lawmaker to MAGA. I wonder what the plan was there.
People continue to underestimate how deeply unpopular Hillary was...30 years of Fox News on the attack. The worst possible candidate for the moment
I get that but it’s the “I thought a business man could do well” when he’s a failed business man. Or the “I was fine with him until covid” when that negates the children in cages, racism, etc
not everyone pays attention the way they should it really brought his dishonesty to the forefront in a glaring way
I just came to the conclusion that the funniest ending to all of this is Trump dying of the regular flu. So that’s what I’m rooting for now, as I like a good laugh.
You’re 100% correct and it’s obvious to people who follow politics like we do. Im probably about to get dog piled, but for many people “it’s the economy stupid,” rings true and the fact is that pre-Covid I would venture to say a majority of Americans were financially better off than they were in 2016. Low unemployment, stocks, yada yada yada. They’re also not tuned in to the news cycle so failed businessman can be brushed off as an opposition attack vs. really digging in. I wish it were more complex, but I really believe it’s as simple as that.
i'm not going to dogpile you and the economy is a factor but it's nowhere close to as reductive as you're trying to make it. and there's lots of research behind it!
but yeah rich white guys love to vote for republicans and say it's because of the economy despite republicans not being better in aggregate when the real reasons tend to be less socially acceptable so they default to the fiscally conservative mantra before even getting into biden had sizable head to head leads pre-covid before he got into the post primary season and improved his favorables
Biden up 13. Hillary won it by 20. If he wins Florida, it will likely be because he improved in a big way in south Florida.
Thanks man! I understand there is a broader matrix and preferences can be complex - speaking as an Alabaman who has observed a fairly large social / familial network (N=maybe 75-100) and has seen the see-saw from 2008 to present day. I do think alot of positions (Roe v. Wade) fall by the wayside in the face of economic considerations for the middle 20%. There is also a reason for that phrase, it’s not a coincidence that incumbents who inherit good economies typically get re-elected Am I overstating by reducing it to just that? Yes. But directionally I think that’s pretty close
I mean it’s happening in the exact same race. Loeffler and Collins are cutting each other’s legs out while Warnock gains steam.
They may as well say "we're cool with all the racism and shit, but it affects my life then it's problem." Fuck those people, I honestly hope the worst shit happens to them and the people they love. This country is so fucking racist it's infuriating.
I don't think he's saying that the % is large or majority % but there is definitely a segment who pays zero attention to politics and is just "I still have my job and haven't been affected by much" (which is obviously a terrible way to go about it but it exists). My mom is pretty much this category (she did not vote for trump though because she just asks me what to do).
This isn't fucking true This is more of the same "My life is great so everyone elses must be" bullshit
oh I definitely agree lots of people are in the uninterested category, but the info on who they vote for doesn't differ dramatically from broad demographic trends they still have a lean, they grew up always voting X so don't pay attention but still default there and they also have partisan responses to how the economy is doing in polling, etc
