I get the sentiment but I’m not sure how you validate that argument, except as a fan of a team that’s likely to make a NY6 bowl. They don’t actually mean anything more than the Belk Bowl and they still mean populating a neutral city with two teams worth of staff, players, and however many fans are allowed to attend. You can have the teams “bubble” for two weeks prior to the game...but the fans that travel are still a massive concern.
I would think the opposite. They usually don’t fill the stadiums anyway and can probably save money on some of their game day expenses. But they could still theoretically make that TV and sponsor money.
If they're forcing a bunch of meaningless conference games on Championship Saturday, they're for sure playing the bowl games
Being there, in Texas, to watch Arkansas beat Texas, in a game called the Texas bowl, was a top three highlight of my life. And I have three children.
Fair. But those are at least conference games and will be hold in college towns. Bowl games will be a bunch of otherwise unexposed-to-college crown towns across the country.
Yeah on a city-by-city basis, there may be some localities that don't allow large gatherings, and things can still get a lot worse in the next 4 weeks. But I think the game plan is clear: generate as much revenue as possible, and at worst, fill the TV slots even if you have to play in an empty stadium
And the college basketball tournaments are probably a better indicator than the conference games being made up. If they're forcing those at the beginning of the season, they'll be forcing the more popular bowl games
Sounds like Rakeem Boyd is opting out the rest of the season. He missed two weeks ago vs LSU bc of Covid and just hasn’t been the same player this year.
I am genuinely curious if his lack of production was due to him not being 100% or because of the struggles by our OL.
According to the arrest report, Bennett was pulled over for speeding near campus on Tuesday morning and told the officer he had marijuana and a handgun in the car. I can appreciate the exact numbers being provided for the baggies. Also, what's he selling it by, the gram?
Personally, I hope the bowl games that are not in the playoff get cancelled. I do not want another opportunity to watch Gus this year.
Two of his INTs were tipped. If I recall he only had one really bad "why did you throw that" pass. It was a slant and he threw it right to the defender. Other than that he takes care of the ball. He also has a bad habit of taking off and running, awkwardly, then stumbling and falling for no reason I can discern. nice kid, tho
idk why but the Gran talk reminded me that Jeremy Pruitt and UT are paying Jim fucking Chaney $1.7 million dollars a year to call their plays. All of Volnation celebrated him as their OC and thought they stole him from us. And I would like to formally announce that I blame him for the Justin Fields debacle of 2018. I'm not taking questions at this time, please respect my decision. Mark 10:12
wild to think that he was there from 2009-2012 (Dooley Era) and was not good then that they thought he would be great when he came back...
