Slabhead was an absolute enigma if you ask me. As a team gave up 17 or 18 less than previous year but still seemed to give up the mind numbingly dumbest goals. Slabhead and Lindelof often seem like they speak different languages. I’d guess much of the improvement came from Wan-Bissaka. I’m still team Harry.
He’ll never be expected to be Rio Ferdinand or Vidic, though I suspect coaching and tactics have more to do with a finding a good CB getting harder than CB getting worse
multiple other west ham players echoing similarly thoughts. You rarely see this type of reaction to a transfer. A team that barely stayed up doesn’t want to invite this kind of turmoil.
I don’t think the James signing is a good one but I like this signing a lot. Midfielders like him tend to do well in England.
after dropping €40m + add ons on Silva. I’m assuming there is another big sale expected from the wolves current team?
After selling off £30m Wolves must sell of more to finance, *checks notes*, the free transfer of Matija Sarkic. Even if this does happen they’ve already sold off £30m so I wouldn’t think they’d need any big sale
I see what he was referring to now. I hadn’t heard of that link yet and there are way too many Silva’s to go through otherwise.
after watching closely at Schalke (Everton lead feo him at one point) he is so overrated, he was getting abused out there towards the end of Bundesliga season
There seems to be momentum behind Wolves also landing Tomás Esteves. A very dreaming looking team if that happened as well
Word is Newcastle and Callum Wilson have agreed to terms. They also have bid for Jamal Lewis from Norwich
It’s silly season. Fabio Silva is happening and I’d expect a couple of depth signings but Nuno isn’t about to flip the squad and start over on this project.
Bayern easily could have afforded it but I get why he wouldn’t want to rotate in behind Müller. #warchest
This is dumb. He’s not in his prime, his production has dropped off as well as his defensive play. Just because he is still elite does not mean that he’s in his prime.
His production was on par with his last four seasons. By your logic his prime ended years ago. You can’t be the best player in the world and not be considered “in your prime”
Correct. He was a much more productive player (22% increase in goals) in the 5 year stretch from the 2010/11 season on than he was the past 5 years. You seem to have a different definition of prime than most.
Also he’s not clearly the best in the world. KdB and Lewandowski have serious claims this year. Mbappe right in their heels too. He’s clearly not in his prime.
Different players have primes at different ages and for different lengths of time. Lewandowski for instance has put up 226 goals in the past 5 years including 55 this year. In the 5 years before that stretch he put up just 128 goals. At 32 there’s no way you could argue that Lewandowski is not in his prime. We’ll see how much longer he can keep it up. But when Messi put up .70 goals per game this season when he’s put up nearly double that in multiple other seasons (1.20+) then it’s hard to say he’s still in his prime at 34. Maybe this season was a statistical anomaly, only time will tell though.
He had more g+a than anyone this year, and he’s producing per 90 at a similar clip to his whole career. It’s silly to argue that he was a little more productive a few years ago so his prime in done when he is still the most productive player in the world. If you put any stock in player ratings from sites like Whoscored, he was the best player by a mile.
Bayern player got jobbed out if the Ballon d’Or in both treble campaigns. The parallels are staggering.
When they literally changed the rules to fellate Ronaldo yet again but everyone in the world knows you won it....
