There are plenty of B1G fans of all teams in the greater NYC area or would otherwise travel to the greater NYC area to watch their favorite team

Or the “deserving” teams could get home games till semis. CFB needs to stop this nonsense of how games can’t be played in the cold

There are neutral site cities in the north with domed football stadiums in Indy, Detroit, St. Louis and Minneapolis that can host a playoff as well.

I missed this post last week. I’m going to have to check my Ohio politics alert settings.

We are in the critical year three, which historically is the coach can’t win without the previous coach’s recruits year.

Day just knocked off Clemson. If he can beat Alabama, he should be polling well ahead of the field for the 2022 Governor’s race.

Has anyone seen anything about Covid protocols and testing for the conference for 2021?

Quarantine guidance, testing frequency, positivity protocols, etc.?

B1G announced it was leaving it up to the schools themselves, didn’t they? Maybe that was in reference to attendance policies and such, though.

When Warren gave his 40 minute monologue to open Big Ten Media Days on 7/22, he said the conference would have standards soon and vaguely mentioned early August.

The SEC and Big 12 have released their standards, which require no testing if certain vaccination thresholds are reached and no make-up games if players have an outbreak.

I think the more likely scenario is a scheduling alliance to create a Big Ten-Pac 12 challenge set of football games, then both conferences lean hard on Notre Dame to add similar scheduling.

ND remains an independent with its own TV contract in football, but pairs with the Big Ten and PAC 12 for a lot more money.

ND keeps its traditional rivalries USC, Michigan, MSU, etc. while scheduling 6-7 Big Ten and PAC 12 opponents each year and filling the remaining 5-6 games with whomever.

That’s the Big Ten’s best play right now.

If the Pac-12 doesn't add anyone could probably get BYU in on that too to even things out.

Church bullshit aside, Provo has always looked like a cool place to see a game.

BYU doesn’t get you anything that Utah doesn’t already give you.

There is arguably some value for the PAC 12 to grab the Texas schools or Kansas, but I think they have to create different revenue sharing tiers and treat them like step-children if they do.

I didn't mean as a member (they don't want them for myriad reasons) but as part of a scheduling alliance with us and ND. A lot of the Pac-12 schools already routinely play them, they've played Wisconsin and MSU recently (and maybe some others I'm forgetting), and have played ND in the past. While obviously not the biggest brand there is national interest in BYU football.

If ND is a part of a scheduling alliance it's probably easier to do with 28 teams rather than 27.

ND has been on NBC since 1991, but the most recent contract was signed in early 2013, when the Comcast takeover was still fresh. It remains to be seen how much appetite Comcast will have in 2025 if bidding breaks out.

Bidding is likely to break out for ND because Fox, CBS, Amazon, and even ESPN/ABC could be interested.

Fox needs to make a move now that ESPN/ABC just destroyed the value of the Big 12. ESPN/ABC have the SEC, ACC, and AAC locked up, so it’s either move to strengthen the Big Ten and PAC 12 or retreat.

CBS just lost its SEC contract. They are out of the game without making a move.

Amazon just paid ridiculous money to stream NFL Thursday beginning 2022. They basically doubled the prior number and will pay over $1 billion over 11 years.

ESPN/ABC could kill everyone if they make a deal with ND to schedule ACC and SEC schools.

This section is pretty much the difference in UM v. PSU over the last decade in terms of perception:

The Wolverines have dropped eight straight games to Ohio State, five of the past six by 11 points or more. Penn State, meanwhile, owns two wins against the Buckeyes during the past decade, as well as two one-point losses in 2017 and 2018.

Michigan has lost 8 straight to OSU and everyone knows and talks about it. It doesn't matter how the losses happen. PSU has lost 8 of 9 to OSU, but it's worded like this because no one cares.

Sure, but no one cared that most of Carr's losses to Tressel were competitive. Or when UM took OSU to OT in 16 or played it close in 17 with an out-manned team. And that's fine, because OSU is UM's biggest rival. OSU is how UM is judged and always has been.

OSU and PSU aren't considered rivals, and that means when PSU loses to OSU people don't care as much.
