rumor was he reached out. They have been talking for weeks. I guess Toledo didn't really care if he stayed or went and he was going to get a big raise. It's not like g5 head coaches haven't left to be power 5 coordinators before.
I don't think Toledo is giving Candle a raise. Seems like he just didnt want to leave his assistant coaches scurrying for jobs when it finally became time to make a decision.
Toledo is a very good g5 job. I believe Candle is by far the highest paid coach in the MAC. If he reached out and then declined later, I guess I get it from Miami's perspective, but that's a pretty big whiff and a waste of time on someone who always would have been thought to be a long shot.
it is a good job but you're ignoring the fact that the last four seasons he hasn't really produced as the HC so his name wasn't out there for bigger jobs and he maybe on the hotseat after next season if he doesn't turn it around. Maybe it was his agent pushing him to get out before things fall apart at Toledo. he could make more money and get his name out there in 2/3 years if he's successful with the talent Mario is going to give him at Miami to get another HC job.
In CFB, 99 percent of head and assistant coaches are on the hot seat every year. Miami didn't offer any more job security than Toledo.
What’s more hilarious is the fact that y’all are poor and just promoted your OL coach to be OC. Strong Manny Diaz vibes with G5 Mike
Recruiting looks great, we got a really solid WR, OL, DL , and strength coach so far. Keeping our good TE and CB coaches. Recruiting has picked up in a major way with 3 top 150 recruits and in the game for a top 10 recruit. I've got nothing but smiles so far in the Cristobal era. But yeah, compare this to the taggart hire...
Nope, we will never take that title from FSU. All I'm saying is that it's a hamstring tearing stretch to compare the first few weeks of the Cristobal era to Taggart.
You're bottom of the state until you're not Country was promised you guys were gonna take whatever you wanted now Been a buncha nothin so far
Bro we been making up titles since they were D2 nobody gives a shit about UCF outside of the asshole of the state
I do feel like Cristobal’s run will be similar to his Oregon stint. Goes to a school with a solid qb and after that it shows how terrible of a coach he is
I guess this makes it worse that they've been the best program in the state this decade? Weird argument tbh
As in 2020-2021 decade? or decade as in the last 10 years where fsu won an actual title? regardless what we said is true that no one really cares about ucf outside of ucf
Is the notion that Mario gets too involved in the offensive style/game plan/play calling catching up to him? Why is it taking the better part of two months to hire an OC? Is he waiting for Matt LaFleur’s season to end?
This is like saying Boise has been the best program in the West for the past two decades. You’re comparing apples to oranges.
He's telling recruits, current players, and staff that he's staying. If he leaves, it would be an obvious blow, but also a pretty big surprise.
“You know, I’m honestly weighing my options between this middling ACC program and Georgia and Alabama. I’ll know in the next few weeks, can’t tell you if it’ll be before or after signing day. Go Canes!”
you left out that part that that middling ACC team is in Miami and Miami is home. Everyone knows how important it is for Miami boys to come back home and be near mama
