One of his players was standing on the top of the bus that brought the players thru the tailgates to the stadium, was thrown a beer, and chugged it AD said “everything was taken under consideration” when asked about it
It's hard to believe he survived some of these recent scandals. They had their perfect opportunity to fire with cause
Do schools generally fire a coach and then rehire him? Kiffin and Sark where fired and kicked off buses. I doubt they will be rehired by SC or want to go back there.
that had to be sarcasm. Although, one sparty poster assured us he’d be in East lansing the rest of his career.
Saban recommended him to the MSU administration…Nick is still close with some MSU people, primarily Izzo. No idea how that would translate to Saban and LSU. In terms of Mel, clearly hope he wouldn’t leave after what he’s accomplished this year and obviously LSU is interested, he turned a program that was dead around in year 2. I will say that the administration is in a much better position now than it was when Nick was around, how much that translate is to be seen.
I will not take any Mel Tucker slander. He is an honest, completely above the board coach who wouldn't dare consider such a thing. Especially now that he's at an ELITE program like Michigan State.
Do people think Michigan State is good? Their best win is either Buttgers or Nebraska. They are a product of their trash schedule so far. They might lose 4 out of their last 5.
Orgeron is already searching for property in Coral Gables. No way would he give up his dream job without a nasty fight unless he’s got something else lined up. It’s an absolutely perfect fit and he’s going to be the best recruiter down there since Butch.
analytics ratings have them at 15th. For comparison, a program such as Oregon is 39th. Getting MSU to 15th after the wanton neglect that Dantonio left the program in is...good? Esp when year 1 was a late cycle hire straight into a pandemic.
Oregon is bad, they’ve looked bad every week outside of Ohio State. That makes sense Again, Sparty hasn’t played anyone decent. Dozens of teams would be undefeated with their schedule.
So we got LSU and USC and probably Miami. I need 1 more big name school to really get this shit wild.
After taking time to ponder his next move, LSU athletics director Scott Woodward pulled the plug on Ed Orgeron as head coach at LSU, sources tell the Geaux247 staff Orgeron is set to coach the final five games of the season after reaching an agreement on his buyout, per multiple reports. Now, Woodward and his search committee will move deeper into the coaching search. Who will Woodward turn to as LSU's 33rd head coach in the football program's history? Sources tell Geaux247 head coaching experience on the collegiate level is a big priority for recruiting purposes. Do not expect LSU to wait around for the NFL coaching carousel to start because Woodward knows how critical it is to have someone in place for the Early Signing Period in recruiting that kicks off on December 18 and runs through December 20. Outside of Nick Saban and Dabo Swinney, do not be surprised to hear Woodward has kicked the tires on anyone who fits his criteria. He knows how big of a hire this is, and we've already seen with some of his past hires at LSU and other stops, money will not be a deterrent. Geaux247 will cover every angle of this search, as well as the hunt for the new headman’s assistants to round out his staff. For now, here is a look at some coaches who have sparked some early interest for various reasons, with detailed information on their salaries, buyouts, history, and what makes them intriguing. many people forget Woodward brought Jimbo to A&M so he knows how to hire coaches just not basketball coaches because Buzz sucks
It doesn’t matter who LSU gets, they’ll win a natty in year 3 or 4. But I’ll take a shot and go solid candidates are Mark Stoops, Cristobal, and Aranda (though I admittedly don’t know how he views his Baton Rouge experience). Campbell and Fickell don’t seem the type to come south of the Mason-Dixon line. I’ll throw in a hooooo buddy wildcard because the thought of it makes me cackle. Orgeron ain’t the only former head coach who recruited a little too well, pissed off a lot of SEC coaches, and did a decent job of PR rehab in the years after exiting Oxford in disgrace.
LSU is going to hire Aranda and people are going to wonder why they didn't just pencil that one in the moment Orgeron was fired.
Lincoln ain’t gonna trade all the goodwill and autonomy he’s built up in one of the most stable athletic departments in college sports for that. I don’t think he’s an OU lifer but he’s in Norman until he either finds the perfect fit at an NFL job or he wins a natty (and then jumps to an NFL job that’s also a great fit).
