Harbaugh doesn’t have an agent, I imagine that’s a huge reason why and also why the nfl types were woefully wrong about him and um in 2014.
Agent or no, he still willingly signed a deal that chopped his 2021 salary in half (with difficult to reach bonuses to potentially make up the difference) while not guaranteeing a dime more than he would have made if they had just fired him last year. Then again, there's not another coach in CFB who would have allowed his first deal to have only 1 year left on it in the first place. Either way, I don't think Harbaugh's case is relevant for many going forward because he doesn't work like other coaches with that stuff.
Going back to the Florida search, I’m having a hard time believing that Stoops is a legitimate candidate to the point where bettors are siding with him right now or at least they were earlier this afternoon.
Man, something has to reset this market. I love the coaching search in college football more than anything but this isn’t sustainable. Too many dumb people in decision making positions.
In three years it’ll be PSU saying “hey, let’s pay the players instead of coaches, yeah?”. Boom. Market reset.
Athletic departments are full of dumb jocks with brain damage who bro around all day. It isn't surprising they continue to set money on fire.
The fellas aren't buying it https://www.tigerdroppings.com/rant...-stoops-is-a-strong-candidate-there/99784576/
One of the podcasts I listened to this morning (Russo with Feldman maybe?) suggested Wilcox and Cal might have a mutual breakup. If that happened, Tedford might be the only guy they can get that wants to be there.
I don’t think he leaves unless OSU comes open. Cincinnati is set up to be at the top of the Big 12 for a long time. Path of least resistance in an expanded playoff. No reason to leave.
USC going to hire back Ed O and I think Fickell would leave for Notre Dame, PSU and maybe Michigan but those schools don’t look like they’ll be open for the foreseeable future
Fickell had to be talked in to taking a HC job again after his 7 month stint as the interim HC at Ohio St. I think he stays at a low expectation program for a long time.
You know what they say about Ohio and Florida. So he’d be right at home. Spoiler Don’t think it will really happen tho. Seems like OSU is the ultimate goal. So if he stays maybe he’s confident that Day will get the itch to jump to the NFL.
Pretty much my thinking. Day may very well head to the NFL at some point and perhaps Fickell entertains a Big 10 job like Michigan or PSU, should those come open. Otherwise, he’s got it good where he’s at not to mention Cincy moving to the Big 12 in two years
yeah I still remember strong was telling recruits he wasn’t going anywhere and then like an hour later he was announced to texas
I think Elko would be good at VT. I think Kentucky needs a guy to continue to churn out kids from Ohio, which is why I like Freeman.
Really don’t see Stoops or BOB as good fits there. Don’t understand why their second call after Jimbo told them to fuck off wasn’t to Napier
Fan outrage aside, I really can't envision a universe where napier is a more appealing candidate for a major job than stoops. Stoops may not want to leave his cushy gig, though
On Russo’s pod, both he and Feldman mentioned smoke coming from Utah that Whittingham might retire. Sounds like they are just going to promote that guy that dropped the n bomb to a recruit if Whit does retire.
Need an energetic guy who can recruit. Ed O was that but he just sucked as a coach. Same with Les. Saban was that. You aren't finding Saban 2.0 but Stoops and certainly BOB would be the opposite of what they need right now
