Dores with a 12-5 W over TTU to improve to 20-3 on the year Little went 4 IP, 6 H, 4 R (3 earned), 4 SO/2 BB. Gave up an extra-base hit in three of his frames so still a ton of room for growth and improvement Bradfield went 3/4 with a triple, SB and 3 runs scored. The triple would have been a single for a fair amount of dudes on this roster, Keegan went 4/5 with 3 runs, 4 RBI, a double and HR. He's batting .483. We've gotten so many awesome players from Massachusetts, Keegan might be having the best individual season since Beede's 2013 campaign where he was a Golden Spikes finalist with Kris Bryant Hugh Fisher is coming back from TJ surgery and worked the 9th, believe he has now pitched six no-hit innings in relief on the season
OK St with a 5-4 walkoff W over OU. Cowboys pitchers walked 10 OU batters and gave up 9 hits, how the hell did OU only score 4 runs?? Variance I suppose Cincy with a 13-12 walkoff W over Louisville in 10 innings Oregon St leading Portland 6-1 in B6. OSU has used two pitchers so far: 5.2 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 12 SO/0 BB. Elite staff alert
Western Carolina has a solid team and Tennessee beat them 9-2 tonight. 7 UT pitchers combined to go: 9 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 11 SO/3 BB. Pretty impressive staff outing there and another sneaky good OOC win for the Vols Virginia improved to 11-13 on the year with a 7-2 W over GWU. They also had a strong staff outing with 7 Hoos combining to go 9 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 8 SO/2 BB. They're just 4-11 in ACC play so probably no real hope for them but at least they can handle their business in mid-week action vs A-10 teams, lol BC had the nice start with the series win over Duke and wins vs Auburn but gosh they have really played poorly since then. 12-0 loss to UConn tonight. They've lost 5 of their last 6 games and are 12-11 overall and 3-9 in ACC play. With a road series in Blacksburg this weekend, probably unlikely they'll be above .500 much longer Duke with a 5-4 W over Liberty UGA with a 2-0 W over Clemson. UGA now 17-7 which kind of surprised me given they've lost series to A&M/UT to start the conference slate. Doesn't look like their weekend OOC series were very tough
2018 Tennessee Tech was a damn monster. 53-12 and 27-3 in OVC play. They had games with 30 runs and 27 runs in a one-week span. Ended up scoring more than 20 runs in four separate games that team's coach Matt Bragga is now at Rice. Hasn't gotten things rolling yet but would love to see them get good again. At least 40 wins every year from 95 through 2014. LSU/Rice 2009 Super Regional was so sick. Freshman Rendon vs LeMahieu, Mahtook, Jared Mitchell, Chad Jones, Austin Nola, etc
Another impressive freshman arm for Arkansas out of the bullpen was Gabriel Starks who was throwing 96-97 tonight and had a nasty breaking ball to end it in the 9th. Hope we can find some room for him to get an inning or two each weekend. Had heard a lot about him but hadn’t seen him yet. Wohlgemuth is a kid who was very highly touted and has been as wild and had a similar career path to start his career as Jackson Rutledge had for us before transferring to SanJac and then becoming a first round pick.
FSU and Mercer tied 0-0 in T5 Jack Anderson so far for FSU: 4 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 4 SO/0 BB on under 50 pitches
perfect through 5 IP on 60 pitches really really nice breaking ball from this Anderson kid edit, now perfect through 6 IP on 70 pitches with 52 strikes this is stupid
Thankfully we woke up and scored 8 in the 7th. 8-1 Top 8 Anderson was tremendous. Feel bad he won’t get the win.
Our jackwagon social media team just retweeted a bunch of MLB rosters instead of making a tweet with all of them, so I can't find our comparable number
What to watch for this weekend from BA Spoiler (3) Mississippi at (14) Florida Undeniably, this series had more juice a week ago when it would have been a matchup of top-five teams. Ole Miss (20-4, 6-0) did its part, sweeping Alabama to start 6-0 in SEC play for the first time in more than 50 years. But Florida (16-8, 3-3) hit a snag at South Carolina, where it got swept. In light of that sweep, this weekend brings a greater sense of urgency for the Gators. The good news is they get to play in the new Florida Ballpark, where they are 15-4. The bad news is none of their starters threw more than five innings last week at South Carolina and they now have to slow down a potent offense led by Peyton Chatagnier (.367/.466/.551) and Tim Elko (.341/.450/.714, 9 HR). If, back in Gainesville, Florida can find its mojo on the mound—and it will shake things up by using openers for Tommy Mace and Jack Leftwich, it has what it takes to get back on track against Ole Miss. But the Rebels are 6-1 away from Swayze Field, with all seven games coming against high-quality competition. (12) Notre Dame at (17) Pittsburgh This is the top-20 ACC showdown that nobody saw coming. Notre Dame hasn’t ranked in the top 20 since 2013, its final season in the Big East. Pitt had never before been a top-20 team and in six ACC seasons has never finished better than sixth in the Coastal Division. But this weekend Notre Dame (11-4, 10-4) and Pitt (12-8, 8-7) meet as two ACC contenders. The Fighting Irish have the best record in the ACC and won their first four conference series before last weekend splitting against Louisville (the rubber game was canceled due to weather). The Panthers have been a bit more up and down and last weekend were swept at home by Virginia Tech. If Pitt is to contend as a regional host, it needs a response this weekend. (21) North Carolina at (18) Florida State Life comes at you fast this year in the ACC. A week ago, North Carolina was coming off a solid series win at Boston College and a win against East Carolina. This week, the Tar Heels (13-10, 8-7) are on a four-game losing streak after getting swept at home by North Carolina State—which had won just one ACC game going into the weekend—and losing in walk-off fashion at ECU. For its part, Florida State (13-8, 8-7) went from a resounding six-game winning streak that included four games against Florida and Miami to a home series loss to Wake Forest—which picked up its first ACC series win in the process. Now, both the Tar Heels and Seminoles are looking to bounce back in Tallahassee. This season there are no breathers in ACC play, so finding a way to stop a skid this weekend is crucial. (16) Arizona at Arizona State It’s a rivalry weekend in Arizona, as the Wildcats (16-7, 3-3) travel to Phoenix Municipal Stadium to take on the Sun Devils (15-5, 4-2). The Sun Devils are coming off an impressive sweep of Washington State, in which they twice shut out the Cougars and held them to four runs on the weekend. Arizona State has endured some difficult injuries on the mound, including losing Opening Day starter Cooper Benson, but has overcome them and enters the weekend with a 2.98 team ERA, the second-best mark in the Pac-12. That staff has a challenging series ahead, as the Wildcats are averaging 9.2 runs per game, the most of any major conference team. If Arizona State can slow the Arizona offense, it has a chance to grab its best series win of the season. Indiana at Ohio State This weekend presents a big opportunity for two of the projected contenders in the Big Ten. Indiana (11-3) has the best record in the conference but has not yet played most of the conference’s top contenders. Ohio State (8-7) has faced a tougher slate but has been up and down against it. The Buckeyes need an offensive jolt—they’re hitting just .228/.315/.370 as a team. Unfortunately, they’re looking for it against perhaps the best pitching staff in the conference—the Hoosiers’ 2.55 team ERA leads the Big Ten and ranks fourth nationally (minimum 10 games). Ohio State needs this series, as it enters a particularly difficult stretch in its schedule, to remain within range of the conference leaders. If Indiana, however, takes the series in Columbus, it will leave no doubt about its ability to win a second straight Big Ten title.
Pretty sweet. You hear about the PAC schools from AZ/CA/OR but seems like never anything about WA. I wonder how UW Huskies baseball setup is. Their football setting is as good as it gets
I just read that Ole Miss/Florida are 51-51 against each other all time, and the last two meetings were sweeps (each with the home team winning).
Man, if I got to go watch Bama in person in the regionals I’d be ecstatic. Tech has a sweet setup, too.
Yeesh ACC is such a freaking mess this year Will be interesting to see if any team rises to the top as the season progresses, every team has been so hot and cold
Found it -- 9 on opening day rosters for Gamecocks: Jackie Bradley Jr. (Milwaukee Brewers) Wil Crowe (Pittsburgh Pirates) Grayson Greiner (Detroit Tigers) Whit Merrifield (Kansas City Royals) Jordan Montgomery (New York Yankees) Clarke Schmidt (New York Yankees) (currently on the 60-day injured list) Christian Walker (Arizona Diamondbacks) Tyler Webb (St. Louis Cardinals) Taylor Widener (Arizona Diamondbacks)
Our coaches son apparently collided with a wall playing baseball and was really seriously injured. He’s been away from the team for like a month but his son is now in a rehab facility and Mazey is re-joining the team tonight
Just brewed a pot of coffee and ate 60 MG. Good start to what is gonna be a long and hopefully fun night of baseball
Dores with a run in T3, leading 1-0 in T4. Rocker with 5 Ks in 3 IP. Marceaux has basically been perfect this year so nice to tag him with an early run
Yeah. But he looks pretty incredible still. I think Kiley might be right that they've changed his delivery a bit to get the rise he had been lacking
