Should be a good lineup for the race tomorrow
I swear everything about F1 social media is elite.
Also, qualifying was incredibly fun today.
3 place grid penalty for Lando
New to the sport (thanks DTS) can someone give me the basics of how qualifying works? They cut the slowest few after every round?
Cut 5 after q1, restart and cut 5 after q2, and then restart with remaining 10 for q3
What caused the red flag?
Accidents where the cars couldn’t get off the track due to damage and/or lots of debris on the track
Just watched on Twitter. Nice of sainz to end qualifying with leclerc on pole
Tsunoda definitely was the cause.
It was gonna be over regardless because Yuki crashed first but before they showed it I thought the same
Fuck yeah Charles!
really fun Qualifying sessions.
The 3 grid slot punishment seems harsh for Lando. Was in no mans land basically.
Not sure how Charles doesn’t get blown past on that straight tomorrow but if he can find a way he will win the race.
Weren’t they mentioning on the broadcast that Ferrari choosing to go with a higher downforce set up meant that they were going to struggle with tire performance on the longer runs?
I feel like Ferrari might be less concerned with the opening straight and more with laps 5-10 as the soft tires start to fade away.
Not discounting Ferrari though because Leclerc is super talented. Hope it’s a great race tomorrow.
Based on qualifying, I think turn 5 or whatever should be a bigger worry.
Don’t see any way leclerc holds off max tomorrow but this morning was so fun
The 1-2-3 battle right now is engaging content.
Ferraris have no speed on the 2 long straights
Gasly even eating up Leclerc. And he pitted.
RB has so much straight line speed even without the DRS.
Another crappy pit for Mercedes, over 4 seconds for Ham. Max pitting, 1.9 seconds.
These pit crews are incredible
Right? I say crappy but they switch four tires and dive out of the way in under five seconds, it takes me probably an hour or two to figure out how to switch one.
I dont understand can they be consistently be that much slower?
He was held up by Gasly entering the pits. Nothing he or the crew could do there.
In retrospect, that one was actually perhaps a RB Jr tricky move, Gasly pitted behind him and Hamilton was unable to leave his pit placement because Gasly was rolling down the lane precisely when he otherwise would have started moving.
Interesting to see pit strategy for Lewis and RB after this.
Oh, just tuned in at like lap 28. Just assumed they had one of their usual slow pit stops.
Sad for Stroll, he might have been literally on his way into the pits right then. The placement of that dead car = no pit.
lol look at these safety car dudes, so happy
Vettel excellent out of the restart, impressive.
Restarts are so much fun
that sucks. was having a great race.
Pirelli got some explaining to do
Pirelli got some explaining to do . . .
Damnit, beat me by 2 seconds lol.
I don’t know if you’re hearing the same commentary as I am, Sky Sports stream, they earlier had spoken to Pirelli who insisted they weren’t concerned about the hard tires post-Stroll accident. Way to go.
Was outside for a second, what happened - just a random puncture?
Lewis continues his multi-year run of luck
What a fucking joke.
same tire as stroll. rear left failed.
Whoa, red flag on lap 48? What happens now?
Noooo actual blame to Max but he was setting fastest laps and sectors every other lap. Likely lighter because of fuel but he was 4+ seconds up and maybe he was pushing the tires slightly too hard?
Lewis’ hard tires were a lap older than Max. Red Bull radio just said there were zero indicators the tire was even close to being an issue.
The ultimate test for Checo.
