I don't hate them, it's just time for some actual competitiveness. So anytime something goes wrong for them, I'm ok with it
Its natural to root against the dominant force. It happened during Ferrari's dominant run with mike. People soured on Seb at the end of his redbull run.
i have no issues with them. I just like to see a good strong competition at the top. Toto is one of my favorite personalities in F1.
I'm a big Christian Horner fan but I still realize Toto's the man. That dude has his hand in everything, his wife is a boss (literally), and they are extremely fucking loaded.
That’s what I was thinking but just wanted to make sure I didn’t miss anything. Got into F1 3 years ago so limited history.
He is. Big hedge fund guy, came into F1 with Williams as a part owner. His wife Suzie was the test driver for Williams when we was involved. Now she runs a Formula E team When Williams sold recently Toto and the Williams family had to re-sort out his stock holdings of the team, I believe he had to put 10% into a blind trust or something after we went to Merc to start that team. He was 50/50 owner with Daimler Mercedes, but they just restructured to go 33.3% each when they brought in INEOS. Dude’s in F1 because he wants to crush people. He absolutely loves winning, which is so clear when they fail to meet expectations as a team.
Toto is great and Ive mentioned it before, but I love how transparent Merc is on their YT race debriefs. Really helps newbs like me understand strategies and why they did what they did.
Caught Ferrari's debrief and laughed my ass off. It was like 60 seconds and they said "we had no idea based on FP1 and FP2 that our tires would grain so badly. We are putting this race behind us looking forward to next week" lol
He's been a homerun pickup for Red Bull. Sure Max has taken his next step this season, but I'd think everyone would agree that Checo keeps coming into his own with the car too. In a car that (other than danny ric who grew up in that car) no one else has managed to figure out, he figured out in 5 races. He's a top 5 driver on the grid right now, and by far the best teammate Max's ever had. I'm happy for him, I have always liked Checo and I really liked seeing how Max and the rest of the team went immediately over to celebrate with after the race. His going long got Max that win, and I bet Christian sleeps so much better at night right now knowing he's got two legit race winning drivers in his cars right now. If Merc and Bottas don't sort their shit out soon Red Bull could run away with the constructors championship. Ps. Lets all take a moment to acknowledge that Lewis very much has still got it. My man took a bad strategy, dying tires, and basically no teammate help and almost held off long enough to steal the win.

They should do this for each of their home tracks. Sombreros and ponchos in Mexico, kimonos in Japan, clogs in the Netherlands, berets and cigs in France.
https://www.racefans.net/2021/06/24/fia-to-force-f1-teams-to-slow-down-their-pit-stops/ Merc going into full bitch mode when they can’t dominate.
Are there actually recent incidents of wheels not being fully on? I can’t recall the one in my mind but someone was on their way out of pit and had to get pushed back.. but this seems to not be a recurring problem that needs to be addressed.
The Bottas spin out in pit lane was a new one for me. What was the consequence, I had to run out in the post fp2 show before he went to talk tot be stewards.
How fucking hypocritical: Slow down pit stops by making each wheel nut tightener make signals and wait 0.2 seconds before disengaging the jack! also, we’re just going to experiment with going from full stop to second gear to shave down our time in the pits. fuckin merc
We'll see. It just feels hilariously disingenuous for the FIA to come out with this ruling about "safety" in pit stops that seems to target RB, a team which by the way hasn't had a wheel come off in over 10 years. Meanwhile in Baku you have cars crashing on the racing line at the highest speed stretch of the entire year and a safety car that doesn't come out until a full lap later. It's like putting a smoke detector in your shed in the name of safety while your upstairs bedroom is literally on fire.
I don't disagree with the FIA being shit. I'm just not sure if this hurts redbull as much as some may think. If Redbull still get's its wheels locked faster everyone having to wait for the release doesn't change they were faster to the OK. I guess we shall see how big of an impact it has and if waiting the censors cause cars to be held up in the lane waiting for traffic to pass.
