they will want to give it to people other than Mahomes over his career like with Jordan. I think if they end up close it goes to Rodgers, but could be wrong
People expect this from Mahomes so it isn't a big deal that he's lighting it up. I think people will be more likely to vote Rodgers because of the story behind it - Coming off a couple subpar seasons, they draft a QB in the 1st, and then he comes out and plays lights out and is leading Green Bay to a potential #1 seed after most people probably thought they were a fringe playoff team. Right or not, seems like the sentiment is leaning towards Rodgers at the moment for no other reason than it was unexpected.
That and Mahomes has much better weapons around him. Not that that really actually minimizes his accomplishments in any way, but that's going to be the narrative.
It was something someone asked during the game Sunday. Naturally the answer was Kelce, but someone did counter with the shitty OC's that Tony had for most of his stay and he made Tyler Thigpen look not shitty.
Jeff Saturday was on Get Up this morning and countered this argument saying that Green Bay has a much better O-Line than we do. Reality is that most teams probably have a better O-Line than we do at this point, and Mahomes is still able to do what he does.
Kelce is probably going to break the single season TE receiving record and might end up being the first TE to ever lead the league in receiving yards. Tony had a ridiculous career from a longevity and consistency standpoint but he was never as good as Kelce is right now imo
Yeah, I don’t remember Tony being a game changing weapon on any given play or down. I was just a kid, though.
I don’t know if I’d say “‘much better”. They’re better and we’re deeper for sure but DeVante Adams and Aaron Jones is nothing to shake a stick at.
And a very good tight end. People are always throwing up the fact that Rodgers never had a first round receiver, none of the chiefs weapons are first round except a rookie. The collection the chiefs has is faster and deeper but I don't know if their initial evaluation is anything better than Rodgers has had.
I don't argue that, but the narrative is going to be that Mahomes has much better weapons and that will sway votes. Despite how true or untrue it may be.
It’s definitely a discussion and a tough one for us Chiefs/Hawkeye fans but Kelce’s durability sets him apart from Kittle IMO.
I don’t have anything against Kittle, I just think Kelce is so much better as a receiver/route runner than Kittle that the better blocking doesn’t matter. Also don’t think the difference in blocking is that great, Chiefs just don’t ask Kelce to do it much.
I agree with your assessment. Kittle loves to block and makes a point of it which doesn’t go unnoticed. That said I feel like Kelce has improved a ton as a blocker throughout his career to the point where now I feel like he’s underrated in that aspect of the game.
Yeah people talk about Kelce like he's a faux WR who never blocks and is bad at it but that's not true at all
Seth Keysor did a good article about this. Kelce doesn’t block violently like Kittle does but he’s very effective at it
If he somehow comes out of that without being done for the year, it will be a true Christmas miracle. It looked horrible live.
Seems like bad news for KC since they’ll be playing at home through the AFC playoffs. Thoughts and prayers
They keep saying Kelce can break Kittle’s record and ignore that Kelce broke and held the record on that day before Kittle played.
I’m pretty sure I pulled my quad when I jumped after DJ ran the not-fumble back. Never forget Jeff Triplette quit in the middle of the night following this game.
This article is ridiculous. Mahomes is god. https://mnchiefsfan.substack.com/p/quantifiably-clutch-patrick-mahomes
I was at that game. And the Ravens wild card game a few years prior. Still not over that Titans game and the luck ass Mariota TD catch. Reminded me of the Andrew Luck fumble recovery TD and another huge blown lead. I knew we were done as soon as that happened. Went to the Texans game last year and after we got down big I thought for sure it was another Chiefs heart break. Turns out Pat Mahomes would have none of it. side note: fuck Bob Sutton
Fuck Tom Brady. Looking ahead. Looks like the priority with pick number 32 is going to be OT. Not looking good with Schwartz having super aids and Fisher with a torn Achilles.
To continue this discussion: Austin Reiter gets to wear 62 Andrew Wiley gets to wear 77 Daniel Sorensen gets to wear 49 Damien Wilson gets to wear 54 Nnadi with 91, I think I’m ok with for now. keys being 29, I’m on the fence. Berry kind of left a bad taste so whatever.
