I think Goldstein has that take regardless, but it’s probably worth mentioning that he has a World Series ring as a former Astros employee
I read it as him defending a trade that is largely being criticized because it helps a divisional team (that Goldstein used to work for) a ton in the short term. But also it was 4 in the morning following a 20 hour work day, so I was probably creating connections that didn’t need to be made… I like Goldstein FWIW, but I’m not really aligned with this take. I get it in theory in regards to getting an mlb ready player with much more years of control, but I have a hard time believing the Astros were the only teams asking about Graveman and Toro was the best player that fits the service time criteria.
Is it safe to talk about how terrible Bellinger is this year? He’s been shit at the plate and made one of the worst errors I’ve seen last night
he has been really bad. he has also battled injuries all year. After missing months with a leg fracture, he then pulled his hammy. That is why he was playing first base. He has been great in CF all year. Also, evidently Muncy got in his way on that throw last night. regardless of the above, he has been awful at the plate.
I thought I saw this Ogre gif in here last night, but i guess not. Regardless, based on one of the interview clips of Graveman last night, i would guess that he currently plans on signing back with Seattle next year and continuing to try to build somethig there. So he gets 2 months to be a part of and enjoy a playoff run and then can go back to Seattle next year and they get a decent prospect out of it. And it's good for Toro, too, who has always seemed like a really good kid. Bregman just started his AAA rehab stint earlier this week, so Toro would be heading back down next week, while he would be blocked next year at 3B (Bregman), 1B (I think Gurriel has 1 more year), 2B (Altuve), and Utility (I think Diaz has 1 more arbitration year), while they wouldn't try him at SS anyway when Correa leaves.
Yeah the trade wasn’t a bad one but the timing of it was the absolute worst. You have the longest playoff drought in North America, have inexplicably positioned yourself to be 1 game out of the playoffs, came back from a 7-0 defecit the night before against a hated division rival in the best game of the year, and then turned around and traded your “best” (he’s been 2nd best) RP to that hated rival the very next day. It was also the first move they made at the deadline and will help this year but was more aimed at 2022 and beyond, so it sent an awful message to the players and fans. Had they done this trade the day after a 2-6 loss and they sent him to like Boston or SF or something, it still would have upset some people but probably not nearly as bad as it did. Or if they had done some other moves first to give this one some additional context, that would have helped also. Now Dipoto is sort of backed into a corner to make some additional moves. He was always going to, but I wonder how the bad publicity on this will impact the M’s leverage with other teams who may ask for more knowing the M’s have to make some moves to upgrade this year before Friday.
The Reds and Rockies are finalizing a trade that would send right-handed reliever Mychal Givens from Colorado to Cincinnati, reports Mark Feinsand of MLB.com (via Twitter). Givens would be the third bullpen piece acquired by the Reds in the past 12 hours, as Cincinnati also picked up Luis Cessa and Justin Wilson from the Yankees in a late trade last night.
Still crazy how it all went down, talk to Kendall this morning which was good. I hope the Mariners continue to play well and win, Interested to see how these next few months go with the Astros but excited to see what happens for sure. Seeing all the stuff on here and on Twitter really meant a lot.
reports have said he only wants to go to NL West team. Pretty crazy position. Maybe he wants to guarantee a playoff spot?
I think he wants to go to one of those teams because all of them are likely to sign him to an extension while the others might be looking at him as more of a rental
Yeah I just checked. The latest said he wants to go west coast. And he can choose since he has a no trade clause
possibly but there isnt any downside whatsoever for the marlins so its a really good lottery ticket to buy
Are the dodgers and Padres just going to keep buying every good player until there are 2 super teams in baseball or what
it's still kind of blowing my mind that the Giants are going to be in 1st place in the NL West entering August.
Such a 2021 Twitter argument. "I think this trade makes sense". "Yeah? Well you once worked for a team that cheated and traded for an abuser of women so your opinion doesn't count!!" Twitter is the worst and has forever ruined us all.
Jesus how are the mets doing that bad injury wise that they need bostick. Also doesn’t make sense how they’re in 1st that’s a name I haven’t heard in years
Looks the Padres want to give the Rangers Hosmer and Hassell for Gallo Rangers are posturing for one of their top 3
he really sucks so that’s why I was surprised I remember when the rangers drafted him a long time ago
I’d imagine San Diego ends up with Gallo and Kennedy/Gibson for one of their top 3 prospects if it happens
This Detroit/Minnesota game is drunk and needs to end. Detroit was up 10-0 in the 4th. Minnesota has out-homered them 6-0 and cut it to 13-12 after 8. Detroit now leads 17-12.
