He should be dealt (they won’t be good in the next 3-4 years), I’d wait for the winter unless they get a really good offer now. The saucy question is if they should put Soto in the window. God I hope not, but they won’t be competitive before he hits free agency.
Sorry I have to hate your brother now Rammer Jammer Lol at the Mariners selling the one year they’re finally over .500
your brother was awesome for seattle sorry he is now on a cheating team but maybe he'll win this year
I don’t understand why the nats were going full well mode anyways unless they think strasburg is done for turner, soto, and a healthy strasburg is a nice core obviously I get why they’re trying to move max though
Amid all the bad moves we’ve seen the Mariners make in our lifetimes, I’ve never seen them get ripped as bad as they are on Twitter right now
Mets throwing in the towel starting Eickhoff. Dude is beyond done. They even DFA him and no one wants him.
because the rest of the team is dogshit outside of that, they have like two prospects who might be good, people don’t really come back from that surgery (to say nothing of Stras’s injury history), and they have a ton of deferred money on the books for the next seven years
i get this part just think Soto deserves better than a complete rebuild during most of his prime. that really sucks
I mean it probably makes sense to move him as some point too, but they’re not going to do that at the deadline
I feel like this is what caused it. We can never have nice things. There’s a reason the Mariners haven’t made the playoffs in 20 years.
my super-nerd fantasy auction league has pretty much developed its own vernacular over the years and one of the terms we always use is “belling”. it’s when an owner is on the playoff bubble and nobody can tell if they’re buying or selling by the moves they’re making. everyone is really excited to see an MLB team that has embraced belling like the Mariners.
and only 4 times ever, which were all between 1995 and 2001. Just an absolutely pathetic organization.
Lived there the 2001 year and it was probably the most memorable team I’ve ever watched wire to wire. I’ve seen some great sixer and Phillies teams as well, but none compare in relation to that regular season. Just absolute monsters, absolutely thrashed teams and they were never out of a game.
MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand reported earlier in the day that Scherzer preferred a West Coast club, though MLB Network’s Jon Heyman adds that the ostensible West Coast preference is more about Scherzer wanting to go to a team with a chance to win in 2021 and beyond. Scherzer prefers to go to “a team he could stay with” on a possible extension, per Heyman. Agent Scott Boras indicated as much earlier in the summer, although at the time Boras suggested an extension might be necessary in order for Scherzer to waive his no-trade protection at all. That no longer seems to be the case, but as evidenced by Scherzer’s unwillingness to go to a New York club, the no-trade rights can help him choose his eventual landing spot.
Has to be a pretty weird and tough day, but can at least confidently say that the ~7 Astros fans I’ve encountered here all seem like decent guys at least. And all my friends here in town that are also big fans are all pumped about the trade, as well as pleasantly surprised by it, although a little sad to see Toro go. And I’m sure the Astros will have most details covered, but if y’all ever have any questions about Houston then please feel free to reach out; I’m a lifelong Houstonian and live pretty much in the center of the city
