Please allow Stone Cold Steve Austin a period to mourn
I don't understand why Paddack is the pitcher you'd get if you're the Mets and you're taking on that Hosmer $$. Especially when you're giving up Smith in the process. I know Smith sucked last year, but I'm not sure I'd trade him for Paddack straight up.
I also don't understand how a team like Baltimore or Cleveland with no financial commitments isn't sitting there running to take on the Hosmer deal for young pieces in return. Why wouldn't you do that?
strange because he was having a good spring but please please please addell be good already
Junior’s time has come
Sorry, that nickname is forever taken. Come up with something else.
Ken griffey Junior coming back?!????
Deal fell apart, unfortunately for the padres
Hey, I didn’t decide that he’s the new Junior, take it up with his teammates.
He’s not. There’s only one.
Junior Fucking Guerra
Nope. Not gonna happen
That’s his given name, not a nickname.
Way to kill the joke, paul
Lol at being excited about a rookie when Matheny manages your team. Look forward to the benchings every time he makes a mistake
Use sarcasm font next time, jerk.
“Beltrán said he believed the championship had a stain on it.”
So the reports of all that interest in Manaea were bullshit if they were willing to take this now, right? Maybe Angeles ends up being really good down the road, but this seems very underwhelming considering the pitching market post-lockout.
sighs Keuchel it is
Jerry fucking sucks
Kind of odd that Beltran waited two years to speak about it, and all he's got is "blame other people."
that’s an awful trade for oakland
nutting and fisher are the worst
Scherzer will make more than the entire payrolls of these teams
And they’ll all play in the exact same number of playoff games: 0
You don’t know this
We enjoyed Donnie Baseball on MLB Network tonight.
you need a haircut
That's my Mattingly showing through.
but seriously yesterday was my regular Saturday to get a cut but we had an Easter egg hunt thing yesterday morning so it got pushed back to mid week. I'll get it cleaned up, boss.
Hit me tonight that Mattingly was a rookie 38 years ago
Spring training stats are dumb, but I’m going to be very annoyed if Julio Rodriguez doesn’t make the Mariners to start the season. He’s hitting .419/.471/.839 this spring and projects to be one of the best (if not the best) player on the team.
A team that is projected to be in the mix for a wildcard berth and who hasn’t made the playoffs in over 2 full fucking decades.
I’m cosplaying as a Mariners fan this year. Fuck the ricketts
M’s should be fun
St. Louis winning a WS with old Pujols would be something
Who the hell picked the cards to win
I'd be stunned if KC finishes 5th in the central
Fan Graphs has KC projected last in the Central It isn't crazy
So I can't have opinions that differ from them? Because that's all I was doing.
you said you would be "stunned." Of course you can have a difference of an opinion through a homer lens, but clearly your view is an outlier.
I suspect the Mariners will make the playoffs this year but I need to see it to truly believe it. I think they look more like a team with .500 talent than a real playoff contender like most of the AL East
but they appear to have some actual nice young talent and aside from Houston (who aren't without their own question marks), the West is meh. Expanded playoffs. Oakland is not even trying. Texas added a couple nice bats in Seager (who will almost assuredly hit the IL for 20+ games at some point) and Semien but they're relying on a rotation led by Gray (I'd be fine with him as a #3 starter outside Coors), Pérez and Dunning. That doesn't scare anyone. And while LAA has star power in Ohtani, Trout and Rendon (and Walsh is gonna hit a bunch of homers too), they'll be lucky to get a full season from Trout and/or Rendon. LAA also seems to be relying on a rotation that will need Sandoval to take a decent jump forward (I bet he will but how many innings can he throw?) and Syndergaard to stay healthy (lol) so there's a lot of variance there
especially on the heels of an offseason where I don't recall any significant upgrades to a team that needed to win like 20 straight games just to make the playoffs last year
Tough timing here, hope she's ok
