We are apparently going to land the King twins from Detroit. Kalen and Kobe. They are at a Michigan feeder school.
Cass really isn't the feeder it was back in the days of Will Campbell, especially the last five years. I'm still surprised Kobe's a take for you guys or was supposedly for us too. Then again I have no idea why the kid that committed to us today was a take either.
I don’t really know why he is either. The CB was apparently really high on our board. I guess he’s viewed as worth it. Who knows. Sounds like we may take the other Detroit LB too, Buddin. I don’t really like him either.
I'm surprised you guys think that highly of him. I think he's solid and would gladly take him as our CB board is horrible right now but I don't see him as an elite prospect. Definitely can be a solid Big Ten player though. I like Buddin a lot and would be upset if you guys got him, I'm still holding out hope that as is with most package deals it just doesn't pan out.
I don't think Kobe King is bad. He's a decent MLB prospect and I wouldn't mind him most years. UM has taken 3-4 different versions of that guy the last two classes, though, so I wasn't really a fan of him in UM's class. I think UM would take them both, so I'm not suggesting they didn't want him. PSU getting them both would hurt UM more going forward with other guys than just losing those two specific players, IMO.
And as far as Buddin is concerned, if PSU wants this badly into the Detroit area, he's the guy you'd want more than the others because Belleville is now the recruiting power in the area and is going to have more big time guys than King or Cass Tech. Their coach also hates Harbaugh, so making PSU a B1G option outside of the state would probably work well for you in the long run.
PSU staff has clearly targeted Michigan as a state they want more presence in under Franklin. I don’t think Tim Banks, our S coach, is that great of a recruiter that he’s doing this on his own. He’s a Detroit King alum. Seems like it’s a coordinated staff effort on our part to be more active in the state. I don’t really like any of the guys we are targeting heavily other than Jaylen Reed, who UM didn’t even offer. Seems like we are going to try to get involved with Donovan Edwards now too.
The only two guys in state I really care about this year are Edwards and Spindler (El-Hadi would be three, but he's already committed), and it's very possible at this point we land neither. That would be a disaster. I could see PSU getting either of them at this point, especially if they go on a run with Reed, Buddin, the King bros., Benny and possibly Spindler. Dixon being there already probably doesn't hurt.
Spindler intel appears to depend on which fan site is writing the story. Edwards is more a case where he's not deciding now, and if he decides he doesn't want UM but UGA is too far, PSU seems like it would be in position to make a run.
I think Dellinger will continue to tumble down the rankings. He seems like a guy that peaked his freshman year and has since not progressed like expected. Solid four star but I don't think he's a top 100 guy at all.
He's good. I never really thought he was going to UM so I moved on there a while ago. Everyone picked him to LSU a few weeks back. This is a good year in state. Not suggesting those were the only good players. I just think the other guys can be replaced by someone else. I don't think UM could replace Edwards or Spindler if they leave the state.
I like Benny a lot too, we're recruiting him for DT right now which if we get Davidkov from Illinois make sense as we only need two tackles in this class.
