Going from one lunatic to the next
Edit: re Jets
I struggle to find a worse personality to deal with NYC media than Mullen.
This would be fantastically entertaining for everyone else.
Dabo or Harbaugh would be better, but not by much
With the 2nd pick of the 2021 NFL draft, the New York Jets select Kyle Trask, QB from the University of Florida
didn’t the Falcons suck against the pass?
This story is so weird. It's funny the paid a search firm that much money and then ignored it, but I don't really get why so many people in media are suggesting think it's such a big deal that they did. The search firm works for them, not the other way around.
Also there is a 0% chance Watson "opts to withhold his services" next season. That's stupid to even put in there. He might be mad, but he's not stupid.
It’s possible that the team told them Cesario is already a candidate and recommend others so they can compare to him. They tried hiring him twice. That seems like the most plausible thing to me about the situation.
Minority hires are such a hot button topic right now and the media is going to jump on the fact they passed on two minority candidates that the search firm you paid for suggested you hire for a white guy that apparently wanted all along
Press Taylor should have been the first guy given a pink slip the second the Washington game was over
if Doug can’t handle that then peace out
just shows how shitty the eagles are being run right now that this story comes out now. make a decision and move forward.
also howie somehow escaping blame is truly incredible.
Howie has to be Lurie’s life partner at this point. It’s the only way he could have survived the last 2 drafts and off-seasons
Are we sure nagy’s job is safe?
I wouldn't think it is.
I don’t think so either
Ownership seems to always trend toward status quo there tho
Getting continually pummeled by GB and no showing in the playoffs (when they wouldn’t have even made it in a normal year) can be more frustrating than just tanking and being comically bad. The bears have oscillated between the two in my lifetime
The owner is dumb and locked in an inheritance dispute with his siblings that has spilled over onto team operations and you’re seeing the consequences.
I think that he got a Plan B, the Plan B started and got benched and the whole tidalwave of shit has led to two embarrassing Wild Card exits.
He has no plan at all with the QB position and should be fired.
And should add that by all indications Nagy hand picked his plan B and it blew up in his face
It's Florio so who knows if it's true, but I could see this working. I would feel awful for him if he got there and somehow Watson still pushed his way out.
I'm really intrigued by Fontenot as a GM candidate, but Brady as HC seems like a massive risk that isn't necessary.
people just want the next mcvay
Seems like urban is close to a done deal.
I'll wait for Pete Thamel to say it before I believe Urban is doing anything.
Pederson is gone
Jason Garrett to Philly
I'm pretty shocked I gotta be honest.
Maybe Pederson and Nagy mostly shitting the bed are making people pass on EB.
Pederson won a Super Bowl lol.
someone just told me Howie Roseman will be the first GM in history to oversee three separate head coaching searches.
seems insane that's true, but regardless the fact that he outlasted Pederson is amazing.
I guess tanking your last game of the season wasn’t a good idea in retrospect, huh?
Oh no #New York Jets
Philly is such a weird situation and I don't know who the top candidates should be. Kind of seems like that org could benefit from a vet like Lewis or Caldwell to put out the dumpster fire and bring things back to normal, but Roseman strikes me as a "go big or go home" type who might make a big play for a college guy again. Didn't they chase Brian Kelly before hiring Chip 8-9 years ago?
Guess the Situation in week 17 didn’t work out how Peterson wanted
Probably not a good idea Doug
I NEED Jets to hire Mullen over someone like Daboll. NEED IT
I mean I know when my boss tells me to do something it pisses me off. I feel you Doug
Kafka getting hired over Bieniemy would be beyond awful for the league from an optics standpoint, regardless of whether there's something beyond "he's black" that is keeping Bieniemy from getting hired somewhere.
Chip was always target #1 in that search. Owner firmly believes that the path to success in the NFL is a top 5 offense so although Roseman has led the last 2 searches its Lurie who has been the strongest and loudest voice in the room the entire time.
Lurie really wanted to hire Kafka as the OC last yr but Andy blocked it. Apparently was completely enamored with his offensive ideas. Reid was the QB coach in GB when he got the job in ‘99.
could be wrong, but don't think this had any impact. I don't think that was Doug acting alone.
