The rumor is that Flores is extremely hard to work for and it's a large part of the reason we have an absolute joke of an offensive coaching staff. Cost him his job. People management and forming a staff is a huge part of the job
I don't know why they fired Flores, so maybe it was the right decision on their end from being around him. But I don't know how anyone can argue that Grier has been better at his job than Flores was at his. In six seasons as GM, he's now hired two HCs who were fired after three seasons, on top of a roster that isn't as good as it should be considering all the picks and cap space they had.
You mean the guy who showed no joy on his face 99.9% of the time wasn’t fun to be around? He was trying to be Belichek without having the resume
lmao you had Adam Gase as your previous coach and this is the shit you’re upset about? You’re going to get a worse coach now so congrats
I think Flores does a lot of things well but if he can't hire and keep an offensive staff it's always gonna cost him his job in the end
Im not a fan of the firing. Im just saying it’s not surprising he wasn’t good to work with based on his demeanor on the sideline
Belichick has a grumpy man persona but people like working and playing for him, he also writes large personal checks as bonuses for people when they exceed his expectations and doesn’t give a shit about anything as long as you work hard. He’s an insane person but there’s a difference between what he is and just being a dick
I keep hearing on podcasts the idea of "if the Vikings can eat some of the money on Cousins contact would Team X be interested?" Is a team just eating money on a trade in the NFL a thing? Or would a contract restructure be needed to accelerate money so the Vikings are on the hook instead of the new team? I know in baseball you can send cash considerations but don't recall how that would work in the NFL with a cap.
I think they can restructure some of it so that it's a current signing bonus but I'm not entirely sure how that works.
Vikings are paying I think 10 million of Cousins contract no matter what I believe. It's if they would take on more if they are given for example a higher draft pick.
From what I remember with the Julio trade, whatever amount the Falcons we're on the hook for, it's divided up over 2 years against the cap space. Same with cutting players that have a portion guaranteed.
His contract is $35M guaranteed in salary, and $10M guaranteed in a bonus. So as long as Minnesota pays the bonus before trading him, the other team saves the $10M, like you said. The other savings would have to come from Minnesota converting part of the salary into more signing bonus. Minnesota has a pretty rough salary sheet at the moment, though, so I'm not sure how much they'd be willing to eat (or if they'd really get that much for doing so). Danielle Hunter has a cap number over $25M right now.
At this point, I'd be quite surprised if they didn't trade him for something. Even the old regime was much closer to trading him to SF than what people realize. His trade value is at the highest it has ever been. Teams like Carolina, Pittsburgh, Denver, or New Orleans probably think they are an above average QB away. Losing him and cutting ties with other Zimmer defensive players will help the cap quite a bit. I think a lot will depend on if someone like Corral falls for Joey Freshwater. The QB class doesn't have a prodigal prospect, but I quite like Pickett or Corral around 10
Carr seems like a good dude that had a great season and got no real love after dealing with the shit show in Las Vegas and some pretty terrible receivers random thought
In all seriousness, Spielman's inability to hit on defensive prospects post Kendricks/Hunter draft and Zimmer's inability to allow an offense to win a game instead of his defense got them both fired.
Ruggs was fixing to have a nice year before his incident. After that, it's Renfroe and nobodys like Zay Jones and Bryan Edwards with Waller out.
Maybe it's Carr elevating them but I thought Zay Jones and DeSean Jackson both were a lot better than I would have expected out of them.
