she almost gave me a heart attack watching the replay of her semi heat. She was out of her lane way before the finish line. Yea she should medal but if she wants gold that start has to get a lot better. Price is the real deal. We might see FloJo’s record tested which would be insane.
I feel like there was a bunch of debunking in 2016, so there will probably be some new psychological trend this time around.
assuming Steph commits you've got Steph/Draymond/KD/Dame and whatever the fuck Pop wants to do about the 5 with Booker coming off the bench. this, uh, will not be great for other countries.
this was really nice. richardson will be a total star. and there will be tons of shitty takes on her on rivals/247 team boards across the country
Lol, these kids are awesome. Shy at first but when you want them to greet each other they immediately go for hugs, my daughter acts just like that.
The 100 meter US hopes are on the shoulders of a guy wearing new balance. This isn’t going to be good
Jamaica will make it tough to claw into the top two spots, but Richardson winning gold over Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce could be "the" moment of the Olympics for the US. Pryce isn't the equivelant of Bolt on the women's side, but she's damn close and she just PB'd.
they finalized the women's bball team. Sue Bird is fucking 40 and playing in another Olympics which is astounding, so is Diana Taurasi. people shit on women's basketball and all but they haven't lost an Olympic game since 1992 and are undefeated in international competition since 2006. They have three total losses in international competition since 1990 which is absurd. they're arguably the most slam dunk pick to win gold in any Olympic sport literally every time they field a team and that's for men's and women's teams as well as individuals. a gold here would be their 7th in a row and tie them with the US men's basketball team for longest streak of that kind.
I mean, OK, but isn't that just "welcome to the Olympics" 101? Jordan kept Isaiah at home and everyone knew it. there's always politics in the Olympics, there will always be a bias to their picks. work on fixing it but acknowledge that said fix will only go so far. but change will never happen so long as they just faceroll the competition. this lady herself says nine times out of ten anyone they put on the roster is winning gold so short of a complete and total boycott nothing will happen. idk, like I get it that you've got a friend who you think belongs there and women approaching and breaching their 40s probably don't but idk how she wants to effect this change. and subtweeting Breanna Stewart is a really bad look since Stewart essentially did everything a player could ever realistically be expected to do in college and she's basically saying "she's young, she doesn't deserve it yet" when she was already unquestionably one of the best players in the country (pro or amateur) while still in college.
Seems like she offers a pretty easy to implement fix of “don’t let Geno Auriemma pick the national team” lol at comparing one player “keeping” another player off of one roster to criticizing recurring biases that just happen to be to the selection official’s benefit
Didn’t get to see today’s race since I just got home, but he looked sluggish at the end of his semifinal heat. Wonder if he’s got a little bit of an injury
I mean she pretty clearly went out of her way to subtweet Stewart. she named literally everyone else she disagree with re: being picked favorably to make the team and ducks naming Stewart; besides all that, subtweeting is just sad in general. but she goes well beyond just Geno in this one, too. she seems to imply most if not all of the committee is rotten. there's such an intense lack of parity in women's basketball I feel like her solutions would just end back at square one and a different team being the favored daughters.
Curry turned the team down. it's bizarre that it seems increasingly likely that he'll never win a gold. he'll be 36 for the '24 Olympics and if he's prioritizing rest now then he may easily do so again when he's older. and forget about '28, he'll be out of the game by then.
most of those guys have been injured, many of them have a gold medal already, and I’m not sure anyone asked Westbrook if he wanted in.
Lebron old, injuries, proven enough for national team Anthony Davis injuries Harden injuries and fat Kyrie injuries Curry probably needs rest and family time. Westbrook probably not a fit for what Pop will want to do.
Makes sense. As you can tell I don't follow the NBA at all. Is Zion not good enough yet to get a spot on that team? He's gotta be better than Kevin Love?!
Just realized the time difference between the East coast and Tokyo. 13 hour time difference is going to make watching the olympics during the day almost impossible. However, there will be a ton of late night TV to watch.
