What’s the situation with the gymnastics team.. Is it chosen based on finish at trials or more of a dream team/Ryder cup style?
Att Uverse channel guide tells me. The top two finishers in the women's trial will earn spots on the four-member team, while the selection committee will determine the other two members, as well as choose an individual competitor to join Jade Carey, who has already qualified.

10,000m women’s final got moved to this morning due to the heat but without spoiling, it’s worth a watch if you’re into distance events. Women’s 200m tonight is must see TV. 2nd heat of men’s 200m looks insane. Laird, Lyles, and Knighton is an unreal group. Holloway should easily win 110m hurdles Benjamin the same in 400m hurdles
"these women went for an easy warmup, just a 20 minute jog, about an hour before their 10k race" psycho shit
I watched this Sisson girl run a 10:23 3200 as a sophomore in high school at our state meet. She was a freak show then, makes sense she’s trying for the Olympics
Ok yesterday was incredible but today could be insane. Men’s 200m has massive potential. If Fred Kerley is maybe the 5th best athlete in the race that’s just silly. Women’s 400m hurdles we could definitely see a WR here from Sydney. Men’s 1500m after Centro is going to be a huge kick finish. I wonder if someone like Hocker tries to make it more honest or is it another 1,100m warm up into a 52sec last lap? Women’s 800m, someone really good isn’t going to Tokyo. Athing and Ajee seem like locks. Would love to see 1:57 or better from them. Men’s 5000m will go off earlier again due to heat. It has the least potential but after Chelimo it should at least be a battle for the other two spots. Yes I really enjoy track and field.
Same, growing up during the McDonnell era made following it pretty awesome, and having a friend I grew up with become an Olympian and win a bronze medal in the 200m (only to be disqualified for stepping out of his lane) was pretty cool
He needs the standard though so he might have to go for it. Could also sneak in on qualifying points but think he needs sub 3:40 for points (3:37 standard maybe) and 1500m finals tend to be much slower and tactical. I can’t see the veterans going out front and risking it, Cole just might be ballsy enough to do it plus he needs the time.
thought i read that hocker was qualifying as long as he finished top 3. will be exciting either way. 1500m is the greatest mix of tactics + speed and this field is awesome with centro getting healthy again.
For those just tuning in, all the evening events got moved back to 1130est at the earliest due to the heat.
They were humping it the last 2 laps. Smart of him to move to the outside cutting off a potential pass. They said it got to 110 deg. in Eugene (where it is currently). Wonder if they can go at 8:30 pacific time?
moving out multiple lanes can get you dq'd for impeding a runner. obviously they arent gonna do it to the olympic silver medalist at the trials but if he did that in Tokyo its almost a guaranteed dq
I was wondering about that. I don't follow it enough to know all the rules, but it seemed a little shady when it happened. I kind of expected the announcers to say what you did.
