Eli went 10-3 in 2003, but he does not have a statue. Archie went 15-7 in his career and has one, though.
If you’re a state and MS and LA are moving quicker than you on a widely popular issue then you need to reevaluate. looking at you Georgia
Ga should bulldoze half of the stuff on Tybee Island and put a huge sports book there if they ever allow it
lobbyists are fucking things up, and to a lesser degree ppl like the Faith+Freedom Coalition or Christian Coalition. But mostly lobbyists; the groups who'd stand to lose business if Ga legalized gaming and then crap advocacy from the groups who would gain (pro teams). Also, the ppl running Georgia right now are beholden to the fringe of their base right now on a wide spectrum of issues...so anything viewed as small government or deregulation does not play well. Thus, they aren't acting on it. Same with Weed. We will get a half-measure and it will piss ppl like me and you off. Limited online betting with a Confederate-themed Resort Casino at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. Its such an easy way to generate tax revenue in a broke ass state.
It's going to be amazing when they do Sports Betting but then say you can't bet on local teams. Believe that was an amendment, or maybe no CFB
I just assumed we were more efficient in our corruption. Another thing we've been ahead of the game on.
So "t_adkins8" is a white walk on receiver that was recently awarded a scholarship. What kind of story is this for Fox News?
Georgia also has some of the must fucked up alcohol consumption/distribution laws in the country. Thankfully some of that has begun to change in recent years, but we’re still behind most southern states which is sad as fuck.
Once again...Louisiana leading the way. I remember a young jrock going to a different state and looking for the liquor section in a grocery store. I was so confused...
Upstate SC had the worst blue laws. No liquor purchases after 7pm, no liquor stores open Sunday, no liquor sold in any restaurants before noon, no beer or wine sold after 2am
Ordering 3 shots of whatever liquor 7 ways took some getting used to. It got complicated and expensive ordering shots with multiple liquors in them. Was such a stupid law.
We can now but only in the last few years. Sales don’t start until noon and I guess there’s an evening cutoff time. When I first moved here you could get beer at restaurants on Sunday but couldn’t buy it from a store. Baby steps. edit: I think the Sunday sales in Georgia is up to the local governments too. In the non incorporated part of the county I can order a beer at 11 am on Sunday, but if I go two miles into one city limit it’s not until 12:30 pm.
I don't know if this shows more of my ignorance or my privilege, but I had no idea what this was referring to. https://carolinas.eater.com/2015/10/16/9553903/mini-bottles-charleston-law-cocktails
I lived in Charleston the summer of 2006, right after the law changed, and drinks were hilariously stiff. It was like no one knew how to calculate a pour without a mini bottle.
My city/county just recently started selling alcohol at retail stores in the last 10 years, and my city just started allowing liquor/beer sales on Sundays this year. Prior to that I had to go to Missouri on Sundays or to Washington County (Fayetteville/Springdale area) to get it during the week. I’d always go to Missouri bc alcohol content in beer was lower in the Washington Co beer bc it came from Oklahoma.
Love being able to buy booze whenever the hell I want. Didnt even realize it was such a luxury until today.
My last semester in Gainesville they finally changed the idiotic Sunday alcohol law, before that you couldn't buy alcohol in a store or restaurant before 1. Was always a hassle having to miss the first few minutes of NFL games while you were picking up booze. https://www.gainesville.com/article/LK/20120202/News/604131781/GS
Florida separates the hard liquor section into their own little attached stores...but you still have to go to GA to get a 40.
