I was underwhelmed by Southern Soul, but all of my friends also said it was by far the best bbq in GA.
Mobile is really a dookie food city. Osmans and some of the causeway joints are really the only standouts. La Cocinas too I suppose
You’ve just got several spots trying to outdo the same menu items. It gets old after a while. Should be a good Vietnamese scene here due to the large population but they all just make seafood
My favorite food in Mobile may honestly be Yak the Kathmandu Kitchen. Bomb ass samosas and vindaloo. BamaNug
Yup, that’s our other spot. We were down there for about a month working a couple years back and ate on the causeway pretty much every night. Got to become friends with the manager at Bluegill (his name was Justin but he went by ‘Stin’ lol) and he let us stay after close and drink beer and fish off the dock. Great dude and good times.
I went to school with the kids of the owners of Original Oyster House and Osmans. We ate at the Oyster House all the time after CYO basketball games. So it was my favorite for a while until I started going to Bluegill as an adult.
Y’all sleeping on Tee’s Ribs-N-Things (I think it’s closed) Used to love going there for some ribs and a few beers and playing a game of pool with the old heads in there
It’s a 2 weeks in advance idea to have due to the size of the restaurant and the demand but it’s always fantastic. Nice people too
Was he the one slinging sandwiches on the strip for a while? https://tuscaloosathread.com/mr-tees-awesome-bbq-home-cooking-open-now-on-highway-69/ Seems to suggest he was. I had those sandwiches, they were great. Looks like he opened a new spot last year, hope it's going well.
Kalbi beef rib is a life changer. They do awesome daily sandwiches as well. The Korean chopped pork, wings, kimchi collards, tempura sweet potatoes, it’s all phenomenal.
RTR to the man that saved my life more than a couple times on a Ttown Saturday night with mana from heaven.
How much better is like Franklin than what I get at fox brothers? I'd probably prefer fox brother's for the weird shit I love. But from a meat purist standpoint.
As someone who grew up loving on pulled pork and south carolina style sweet sauces I finally converted to bbq out here. Only thing is pulled pork here is usually passable but everything else is incredible
Franklins is ridiculously good. Worth the wait in line. Especially if you have a cooler of beer while u wait
Although fox bros burger still holds a place in my heart... specifically critical stenosis of my left anterior descending artery
For the past 2 years its been online ordering call ahead take out only, just have to put your order in 2 days in advance... They re-opened the dining room and shut down the online stuff about a month ago. **Help me Omicron-Kenobi you're my only hope**
Brisket is unquestionably the best medium for BBQ, and Franklin and others in Texas do it much better than anywhere else. There's still great BBQ everywhere.
