I live close but haven’t had it yet. I’ve heard good things though but that’s probably due to no other good bbq around. let me know how it is. If you get a hankering for steak, drive down to Lineville (20 mins from wedowee) and try farmhouse. The cowboy cut is legitimately good.

Never had Franklin's so I can't compare it, but LA Barbeque in Austin was top shelf several years back when I had it out of a trailer in an empty lot with bRamonceTaylor

This is the "Pig-E-Chonga" at Rubbin Butts. It's a chimichanga loaded with about a pound of chopped pork and covered in cheese dip and what seems to be KC Masterpiece BBQ sauce:
think they have 3 in charleston and 1 in columbia and greenville now. i bet they'd thrive down in athens, it's a great food/hang out spot especially on gamedays
You go there and cant help but become a Sides person. But they inject all their meats with Asian flavors too so maybe the Sides just compliment the Entrees to perfection.

I will say you can definitely still get shit brisket here. Whenever I try some rando spot on ubereats it tastes like pot roast with some shitty smoke ring. There are only a handful of places I've been to that make me say GAT DAMN (4 in Austin, 2 in Houston) and BBQ places here are a dime a dozen.

What makes that extra hilarious to me is that “chonga” is Cuban slang for a Latina hood chick. The kind with the hoop earrings, wet curly hair and ridiculous makeup and use the term “bro” every third word, bro.

It says “To Rubbin’ Butts BBQ. Save some Pig-E-Chonga for us! - The Alabama Gang” and the date. The next time we were there, we took a picture with the waitress (above) holding it. We framed that picture and mailed it to them, too. That one is under the bar.

How does Terry Blacks compare to Franklin’s? I loved Terry Blacks in Austin. Probably my favorite with Oklahoma Joe’s in KC. I just didn’t have time to make it to Franklin but I will next trip. Need to try that new spot in bham that everybody likes
