He pretty much was forced out, he gave up the last few years and trusted a senior class way too much that he did not develop. Guy liked to party and was great for ND for basically two decades but the program is in shambles now. I still wish him well even though ND is fucked now but I guess that shows the cult of personality and the appreciation for what he did for the program
any chatter on the search for his replacement? I assume they wait to see what Shrewsberry says first?
They were a good trivia question answer along with Army Citadel and W&M as schools that'd never made the tournament despite being eligible for each one
Not with the class he has coming in. Much more reminiscent of the ones he had when they were winning 30+ games and going to Final Fours
obviously none of us would stay either but it sucks seeing these small schools get a hint of success and losing their coach to bigger schools
unless you’re a nepotism fueled blue blood who hires an unqualified youth pastor as coach, almost every coach starts as a hire from a small school
nec is the worst conference in the country. i think fdu was their first non first four conference tourney win ever. it’s a massive step up
yeah it’s like an sec coach taking a job in the big east or acc. maybe not the toughest conference ever but still a huge step up in competition
This was a good year for the MAAC (largely because of Iona) and a bad year for the NEC. MAAC is better, but I don’t know if I’d say the gap is as big as SEC to Big East. Iona probably can offer a significant raise though. Anderson’s predecessor was making $257k and Pitino was over $600.
FDU was 4-22 last year under the previous coach. In his stint in D2 at St. Thomas Aquinas, in less than 4 years he took one of the worst teams in D2 into one of the best teams in D2.
D1 St. Francis announced last week they were cutting the entire athletic department effective end of this school year. So St. Francis has set the bar pretty high here.
