There aren’t enough quality officials in the pipeline for basically any major sport. You can do all those things and the officiating product won’t be better - for example, I think we’ve all seen the mess Sun Belt refs make of bowl games between P5 teams. That’s a chain that goes all the way down to the youth level because frankly, what 16 year old wants to make a few bucks by getting yelled at incessantly by the parents of 10 year olds.
I saw a tweet the other day ago where one ref worked like 6 games in 7 days and went from one coast to the other in the middle of it or some shit like that.
They are graded by their assigners. Problem is each conference has different people grading and wanting to see things done differently.
Asign them as crews like in basketball. If not, limit the amount of time and/or travel in-between games Higgins does around 95 games a year. He called a 10pm et tipoff on the west coast, then took a red eye and called a noon tipoff for a Purdue game the next day. That should not be allowed. Officials schedule themselves or make themselves available. Travel and food is paid for by the conference. Pay is 3-4k per game. If they want to work 5-6 nights a week that's fine, but you should only be allowed to work 'X' amount of miles in-between games so you're regional and not jet lagged
I did the math because on the WVU site we had the same ref discussion. If you took the 4k per game and made the B12 conference have their own officials, it would have been at most 2.5million this year on the high end
Monmouth has won 2 in a row after not winning a game since December 4th FAU lost their first game since November 11th Wisconsin Milwaukee already has 16 wins after winning no more than 12 the last 4 seasons. Their former coach is now on the Georgetown staff.
Emoni Bates with a really impressive OT against Ball State scoring 4 straight possessions and then gets stripped at halfcourt because he was gassed He is a good scorer. Makes some ridiculous shots. Him playing in the MAC seems awful for his development, though. I doubt he's changed much of his playing style since high school. His coach enables him. It's ISO offense and then loafs it on defense. Basically AAU. EMU about to be 6-17
Yea not enough scoring options at guard Lucky for Kansas that's the case for every team this year It's going to be the worst champion in a while
Not any quality traditional big men for KU either. Adams is about 6-6" and small ball option all the way and Wilson is a SF playing PF.
I love Adams Literally all he does is try to dunk it off 2 feet from 5 feet away and miss free throws Pretty entertaining
firing him this season is still the most inexpensive outcome - it would cost a couple million more to pay him his next year’s salary and then fire him
the audacity of the crazies chanting bullshit over a Fillipowski block call when the obvious call was for the flop
it's an ugly game but it's still pretty fun as a neutral fan. Lively pushing for a double-double with blocks is pretty nuts.
