Gary Danielson doing a 180 on the quality of #B1G football is going to be a full circle moment for him.
"Sports Business Daily reported late Friday that CBS has walked away from negotiations with the SEC and that ESPN/ABC is in the “final stages” of a deal to acquire rights to the conference. ESPN/ABC is said to be bidding around $300 million per year, compared to the $55 million CBS is currently paying for the package." CBS says B1G>SEC
It’s actually amazing the gap in quality of play the SEC has yet they still find a way to command less money for their content than the B1G.
I wonder with the amount CBS is willing to pay for essentially the #2 or #3 game of the week if there is an agreement with ND and/or 3 or 4 other teams.
Markets. The Big Ten has NYC, Chicago, DC, Los Angeles and a bunch of very populous states. The SEC has Atlanta, the Texas cities, Florida and it gets real slim after that.
The SEC is way better but isn’t more competitive You have 2 great teams that damn sure Birmingham won’t make play during the regular season SEC is kinda boring outside of the few times Auburn makes it competitive
I don't really buy this, Alabama and whoever the flavor of the year are better than anyone in the B1G except for Ohio State here and there but from 3-14, I don't think the gap is big at all.
if fox is 600+, they may hit 1.5 billion/yr for media rights, i believe that would have b1g schools pulling in around 125mil/yr( all in with conference payouts(bowls, ncaa tourney, b1g network etc))
I just hope the Ohio State Womens Synchronized Swimming program gets a new aquatic complex, maybe a new Fencing arena too.
The neighborhoods around Camp Randall will be full of tailgates and under-graduate lawn parties. Take a wander through there, hit Union South, and check out the bars on Regent St. There's 8-10 bars that you can't go wrong with. Crowd is just out of college/30s. Catch Jordan's Big 10 before it gets too busy. SconnieBar too. It will get more college oriented the closer to the capital you get. State Street and Uni Ave bars will be college kid bars/frat row. Top college bars are probably the Double U and Kollege Klub. There's bars and eats all up and down State Street. Other popular bars are Brats, Wandos, Whiskey Jacks, Chasers, Red Rock, Danny’s, the Nitty Gritty. Don't remember much of those recently as the last trips have been heavy drinking trips, though they were always fun in the past. Long lines after every game, so get there early. Try Monday’s. It’s in that area as well, but it’s like a dive bar that isn’t a dive bar anymore because of how popular it has become. It’s a hole in the wall place, but it’s great and its thing is that they pour the strongest mixed drinks in the city. They’ll seriously laugh at you if you order a double. Can't miss a staple visit to Wisconsin Union Terrace. The terrace is incredible - you can get beer right on the lake and it’s a great place to mingle/sunset watch. Go the day before or after the game. Think there's a $1 dollar fee for non-students to drink. Spoiler Stadium Takeout is nearby and has great Italian beef/other Chicago staples. Stop by downtown (State Street, the Capitol) especially Saturday morning for the market and pop into the Old Fashioned for cheese curds. Garth's Brew Bar on Monroe is close to the stadium and is more of a hip/older bar. The Comedy Club on State is one of the best clubs in the country if you’re into that. Get some ice cream from the Chocolate Shoppe or Babcock Hall (at the Union). Madison has many great micro-breweries. Most are a little away from downtown. The Forward Madison soccer team, if that's your thing, has a fantastic atmosphere for “minor league” soccer. Lastly, you have to order cheese curds and a Wisconsin old fashioned somewhere. It'll automatically come with brandy.
If these are the types of announcing teams NBC has in mind for their CFB broadcasts, I'd rather not bring them on
They're basically going to be replacing the Saturday afternoon ESPN crews people always complained about since our bigger games are going to be on FOX and CBS, right?
