I bet they will love her. She’s likely a Christian herself, and she’s probably willing to say the things they can’t say out loud, she could be their Iranian version of Candace Owens.
honestly thought Thamel was doing Beck’s agent a favor here. worked out perfectly for us if it goes through.
UC don’t want to hire a coach they think will leave? How are they in a position to “pass” on quality candidates?
Any team with an opening that doesn't call him first is dumb. I hope he tells them he's not interested, but I'll never understand how half the league acted like he was dead the last two years when he wanted back in and they had openings.
I think UC is less desirable than recent history suggests. For one thing, I don’t know that the move to the Big 12 helps them at all besides making them more money. Secondly, you need someone that can recruit the hell out of Ohio but NIL is going to make competing with the B1G and Kentucky even more difficult. And lastly, you’re replacing Mr. Ohio in Fickell. Feels very unlikely that whoever gets the job can win that fanbase over without instant success.
Of course they all recruited nationally in some sense, but our fanbase has long been of the opinion that going outside the CA/CO/TX footprint was a waste of resources. We haven’t had the recruiters or brand to go after any recruit in any location. Only Hawkins was able to overcome it to some extent. We thought we’d see a boost with Embree/Bieniemy and Tucker, but neither did very well besides a handful of recruits. Tucker was frustrated by the transfer rules too.
Going from the American to the Big12 is going to be an adjustment. They're going to be near the bottom talent wise based off recruiting rankings. That doesn't account for depth issues. It took Dana and Patterson each 3 years to have a winning conference record
timing wise it seems like a job where guys would be more interested in being the next hire than the hire now
I think you can make this case at most places about it being harder. The last two decades of Cincinnati coaches and the amount of $$ it has made four of the five guys (lol Tubberville) has to still be relevant, I would think. I wonder if they're shooting higher and going for a sitting HC somewhere as opposed to the assistant route? If Lewis and Linguist are the two finalists, as posted ITT, that would make some sense.
The longer this goes on the more I’m leaning this way as well. I don’t think our AD is looking for a first time HC to take the job with the move to the Big 12 and all that comes with that.
how did his teams get “vastly more talented “? The portal has changed CFB. He can recruit. There is nothing to say this isn’t a good hire.
Telling an FSU fan they don't understand the appeal of notable FSU alum Deion Sanders is definitely a choice
Well it could be that orrrr it could be he was making some other argument You landed on 'fan doesn't understand the appeal of an alum nicknamed" Primetime" ' which tells me your brain doesn't work too well
for starters he had a son who's really fuckin good at the most important position in the game...definitely better than anybody else at qb at any other HBCU and then he figured out that if I convince a bunch of processed players from P5 programs..more importantly...P5 S&C programs...to come play on the OL and DL then I can dominate the teams I play against He's extremely smart, I don't doubt he'll tweak his philosophy to fit his new surroundings I just don't think he'll immediately push teams in the Pac 12 around like he did in the swac It's a great hire
"Deion won't recruit well" and "Deion won't recruit well enough to have an overwhelming talent advantage over the rest of the conference for the first few years" are two completely different beliefs. The first is dumb, the latter is probably close to true
