Didn’t Satterfield once say the best thing about living in Louisville was that he was close to the airport?
Know people who have played or worked for him, all love him He was a very bad fit at UL. Did great stuff at App State
I for one am looking forward to snapping our 16 game losing streak vs UC, cuz Satterfield is gonna fuck up that roster in a hurry
What does Satterfield even do in the bowl game scenario? Just sit out and let an interim coach both sides?
Why would he take it now when he turned them down to stay at Purdue before they hired Satterfield? The gap between the B1G and ACC has only widened since then. If Purdue wants to keep him, they can afford it.
The gap widening in the B1G helps Purdue financially to be able to pay Brohm. But I'm not sure that widening gap helps Brohm competitively because it's Purdue. It might hurt more than anything. And I'm guessing Louisville would probably be able to pay at least somewhere in the ballpark of what Purdue is willing to where that kind of thing might matter.
Another aspect is the impending merger of divisions Makes current B1G west programs a lot less attractive from a competitive standpoint. If I were Brohm I would go get a lifetime contact at Lville. Path to the 12 team playoff is easier there
Also winning at Purdue is really hard and they've gone to B1G title games when the rest of the West has been at its worst. We hired a seemingly good program builder and Wisconsin hired a proven winner. His job is not getting easier in the B1G.
When was the last time a PAC 12, ACC, or Big 12 school hired away a sitting HC from an SEC or B1G school? Honest question because I don’t know the answer, but nothing is immediately popping to mind. Not saying Brohm couldn’t be the next one, just will be more something I believe when I see it.
Fair point and I can't think of one off the top of my head. I just don't think B1G/ACC matters that much when you're talking about Purdue v. Louisville. There's arguments that could be made for each side on that, depending on how you think. Purdue is a bottom 3 job in the B1G, and Louisville is a mid-level job in the ACC.
His path to the playoffs will be easier at Louisville He should go now and Purdue should replace him with someone awful
Purdue in all likelihood is never getting back to the B1G CG once East/West is abolished and their NIL game is pennies on the dollar compared to UL. Path to success is much much easier at UL.
