I'm copying/pasting this from a Twitter thread of mine but I'd say the death of geographic/league parity in college baseball can be attributed to: 1) TV money and the ensuing investment in facilities. All of the P5 started getting big TV money but the SEC had the largest baseball followings thus most need for bigger and better facilities. 2) the nationalization of recruiting and Perfect Game. A kid from SoCal can be seen at these circuits by most every coach in the country. They aren't hidden. So a player that would have gone to USC or LBSU in 2000 goes to Arkansas or Ole Miss now (in large part because of #1).
