If you’re worth 9 figures why would you ever cook another meal in your life unless it was grilling by a body of water? I would have a chef preparing meals every single day I wasn’t eating at a restaurant

There is a track near me that is a replica of the (apparently) world famous Kartdromo Parma in Italy. Senna through Hamilton apparently raced it in karts. The one near me has karts that go about 50-55 mph. It is a blast.

I have shared before, but I went out with some friends the week of Christmas and we happened to be on track with Alex Bowman (current NASCAR driver for Hendrick), two other NASCAR guys and Scott Speed formerly an Indy Car driver. They were doing something completely different than my friends and I.

On a .7 mile track they were beating our lap times by 15-18 seconds. It was unbelievable and a testament to the skill involved.

Hah - we live near each other. I went to that track for the first time a couple weeks ago. Going again in a couple Saturdays.

Were the NASCAR guys in rental karts or did they bring their own? Do you remember their lap times?

    Team of makes sense.

I believe they were in rentals in fact almost positive. I want to say we were in the low 80s and they were in the mid to high 60s? High 70s to low 60s? Something like that.

ETA: They carried so much more speed through the track that there was not a corner or turn they couldn’t pass us in. You will understand having raced the course when I say they would lap us multiple times in a 15 min race even if we weren’t binning it in the hairpins.

Sounds about right. My first time I went with some friends who used to run Autocross back in high school and are big gearheads. I think my best lap was ~72 but the three of them were in the mid 60s and it was night and day how much faster they were than me.

I'm really hoping to get up there on a day with a little more clean air. The track gets pretty congested with 20+ karts running around out there.

There's a really fast track about 30 mins south of Houston I've been too a few times. Similar to the track yall are describing, people that are good will be 15-20 seconds faster, and that's after you figure out how to keep it on the track for a full lap.
There was also a pretty sweet tight oval track east of town hat was more like a dirt track with the amount of drift.

K1 is much more my speed unfortunately

Here's a video of the Houston track. There's also a much larger track next to it for sports cars and motorcycles. Watching the bikes take the turns as fast as they do and then haul ass down the straightaway is sweet

T1 is so critical because it’s basically flat out from that until t4 in the rentals. I still don’t have the stones to really go for it the way the faster drivers do.

Its not just Ferrari, RB and other teams are also very pissed.

It just so happens Ferrari is the most important team to the sport and thus when they speak out you should pay attention

I hear this parroted a lot, but there is no reasonable justification for it. Letting the inmates run the asylum is a bad look. I don't condone Mercs alleged infraction, but if ANYONE at Ferrari does more than wink and say "good one", they're complete and total hypocrites. Any team would have done the same, no matter how much Horner might protest.

Professional Hypocrite is in the job description for team principal and F1 actually only care about the spectacle. If it’s more interesting and F1 want it, anything can happen.

The sport is way more fun if you don’t worry yourself with the rules and right and wrong.

You don't think between McLaren fans and the Dutch that they don't have have a large contingent of fans at F1 races?

Do I need to post the survey published last year that shows 3 of the top 4 favorite drivers being Max, Lando, and Danny Ric...all of which whose fans wear orange?

That wasn't the conversation and you float out that in the year 2022 people can't tell the difference between red or orange as if its 1970 and we have aluminum foil tv antennas to bring in our signal to watch races.

Given the massive amount of data that say's Ferrari is the most popular team in the world his observation that the majority of crowds on race weekends are wearing red would make total sense. That doesn't discount that Max and the McLarens have a large following and make up a large portion as well. Both things can be accurate. Max is champ and Lando is popular don't be so sensitive.

in my vast experience of f1 viewing I'd say the amount of red I typically see compared to every other team is a bit overwhelming

I have noticed the orange contingent as well

I'm still of the mindset that it's kind of weird to have a favorite team in a sport like F1 when the cars and drivers shuffle up every year. I feel like it would be like saying you only root for golfers who play with Titleist clubs or something.

Ferrari is clearly the most important team but they're less important than they were pre-Netflix given the growth of the size of the pie and the influx of large sponsors

God damn with all this bickering about absolutely pointless shit.

guys, just watch quali and the races, make fun of Latifi and discuss race strategy during and shortly after the races. Then post memes in between race weekends. It’s that simple.

Who gives a flying fuck about the colors in the stands or whose popular. You are ruining the reading enjoyment of this thread.
