Oh no! ….anyways, Max was dominant and I promise your luck will change Checo. Wonder if Ferrari will have to trim some downforce to close up the straight line speed gap.
Siren was annoying af and football helmet was corny. This grand prix was run by F1 though so those decisions are all them. Most races (maybe all but this one?) are run by the city or track but this one was F1 owned/managed.
The parent company is Liberty Media which is a US based company but if you're going to put the police escort and football helmets on them, then you'd need to learn more about how business works. That would be like blaming Berkshire Hathaway for a Geico commercial you don't like.
Thought it was a great race. The tv coverage needs to include the Martin grid walk moving forward. It’s incredible tv
It always has been on TV except when COVID guidelines made it so no one other than the teams were allowed down there
Apparently Checo was down 30 HP because of the sensor issue. Think he might have gotten P2 without it.
He went full send knowing a pass on the straight wasn’t happening. Sainz anticipated that pretty well.
He received another 5 second penalty for cutting the chicane multiple times. I like Alonso so I wasn’t trying to dunk on him or anything; he was just caught up in lots of incidents this race.
Just went back and looked at Max's results over last 3 years. He's on an extraordinary run. Hasn't finished off the Podium in a clean race (ie., no engine blow-up, no Bottas torpedo, no grid penalty) since France in 2019. In the 57 races since then: Podiums (39) 18 Wins 16 2nd place 5 3rd place Other Races (18) 4th in Russia in 2019 after taking grid penalty for engine change 5th at Silverstone in 2019 (Vettel incident led to spin while running 3rd) 6th in Mexico in 2019 (contact with Hamilton and Bottas separately) 6th in Turkey in 2020 when Red Bull put the wrong wing on his car 8th in Monza in 2019 after starting in last due to engine stuff 9th Hungary last year (Bottas Torpedo) 12 DNFs (3 of these, and I included Silverstone last year in the list, Max probably got too aggressive; the other 9 were engine / tires or getting hit in the back) Not sure how to measure this but that's gotta be starting to get up there in terms of all-time runs.
Was it even a difficult question. Max oozed superstar from the start of his career. It didn't take long for him to get promoted and also flash with the works team.
Asking for a friend who's in between cable providers...is there a good place to download a replay or watch after the fact? I used to know of some places, but can't remember now.
yeah that must suck but, much like a one hit wonder being forced to sing their only hit for 30 years, it's hard to feel sorry for them
I do feel for him if he doesn't like doing it but if he wanted to feel more prepared he could do a little prep work on those who are expected to be there.
for some reason, i hadn't seen this view yet of any race: super cool. those cars at the back are screaming fast once they get into view.
I can't decide if the acceleration or the deceleration is more impressive. The helmet view when they go from 200 mph to 35 mph in what feels like 20 yards is insane.
Listening to the recap Race podcast. I didn’t know Leclerc had no more mediums, aside from the used ones he started on. I was curious why he didn’t pit during the VSC. Wonder what would’ve happened if they put him on softs
So since I asked and was in a hurry, I found a good site if you don't mind 720p (sometimes 1080p). f1full.com There's also a Reddit group that's pretty active, although it's all motorsports so you'll have to scroll some. Includes Drive file links as well as torrance. Hope this helps someone! r/MotorsportsReplays
Ferrari screwed up. Even without anymore mediums you still pit him and put a set of hard or softs on. Fresh rubber is always the goal. Plus they could've done it under the VSC forcing Max to stay out on very old tires or pitting under a full safety car and dropping way down the grid. Either way they fucked up. This is classic Ferrari and Horner called them out on it during the race.
He said that neither driver had a fresh set of Mediums or Softs and that it was better to stay on old hards vs new hards. I don't buy it... but that was the explanation
Talking today to a few folks I know that had VIP seating / Paddock passes. Sounds like it was absolutely FUBAR in those sections...long lines for bathrooms, cold food, no liquor, angry people...crazy how positive experience seems to have been for Grandstand folks (I had a fucking awesome time in the start / finish grandstand - great food, no lines, etc) and how pissed people in the "VIP" areas were
