This offseason is gonna be crazy. I can’t imagine seeing Seager or Taylor playing for someone else. Kiké and Joc were bad enough.

In retrospect, this team entertained and gave us hope once again. Six games into the NLCS to get eliminated, I'm calling that a good year. I watched the team play ball on October 23rd. It could be worse, and eventually it will.

I’m a mostly pro Dave guy, but it really seems like we ALWAYS play down to the competition in the playoffs.

The Braves got hits when it mattered and we didn't. Not sure we played down to them. Felt like they stepped up.

And in most recent seasons, our biggest clutch bats were Muncy, JT, and seager. Two were hurt. Seager was pretty average (although he did have two homers).

very happy Bellinger found it a little bit heading into next year.

The boys will be back. It will just look a little different.

hopefully May is ready to go by next season

Having a healthy big ginger in the rotation probably makes a difference.

Really think he was gonna take a big leap this year. Hopefully the injury doesn’t derail his career.
Wonder if Andre gets a shot at being the #5 or 6 guy. Probably not

My grandpa always judged starting pitchers by their shoulders. He said "the good ones always have a wide back". Dustin fits that profile, hope his arm responds.

right, But having a team mentally ready is supposed to be his strength, right? Like I said, I’m pro Dave, but can we just crush an evenly matched team even once? Feels like we need to be twice as talented to win in the playoffs.

Think that’s just volatility in the playoffs. Very few series are easy. And very few teams dominate wire to wire (2018 Boston… although they were cheating). Dodgers win a lot more series than they lose. They beat the hottest team in the NL heading into the playoffs. and then the best team in the NL on the road. And then just got too tired and hurt against another hot team. It happens.

also, 2017 was taken from them. Boston was nearly unbeatable in 2018. Was 2019 an upset? Sure. But the Nats won it all. :idk:

sure, but volatility, by its very nature is supposed to work both ways. It doesn’t seem to for the dodgers for whatever reason.

Fandom can be tough. But I love the 7-8 month grind. Always grateful baseball is constantly around. And the dodgers always have a shot

Unfortunately that's the playoffs in a nutshell. It's mostly a crapshoot. The Rays are better than the Red Sox but one bullshit rule swung that whole series. People don't like hearing it but a lot of the playoffs just comes down to being on the right side of variance.

As for Roberts, I just don't think he's the best that the team can do at skipper, simple as that. This year I don't blame him for losing, but the problem is when faced with major obstacles, I don't think he's a good enough tactician to help make up for it a little. It's always a bit tough to evaluate the amount of credit/blame a baseball manager should get. His record is as good as any in the game, but how many managers get a roster this good/expensive to work with in the first place?

Is Roberts the best possible manager for the team? Probably not. Am I terrified that if they fire him and hire someone else that the new person will stink? Absolutely.

I’d imagine so. He was great most of the year, but not sure you can set your watch to him being good every season.

that's a lot of money to tie up with a 34 year old RP who hasn't been worth 1 WAR any season he's been in LA

  23. Happy for Joc. Albies I think is a fun player to watch and Acuña is one of the best talents in the game. Freeman seems to be one of the nicest guys in the majors, even when they were losing he was chatting ppl up and smiling, seems like a good dude. So I am happy they beat the Astros and that is about as much nice stuff I can get out to say to the Braves. On to the next year. Ready to find new ways to be hurt by a historically dominant regular season team once again. This offseason should be wild

glad he's back but a small part of me was hoping he'd sign with Seattle and then the guy the Dodgers took with the bonus 1st rounder ended up a HOF player just for the extra lulz of that career/transaction arc

still praying for Freeman. Would also love some SP, but no idea where they go for it at this point. I know they have a few guys ready to make the jump to the majors, but rather have a stud #3 behind Urias and Walker. Then bring back Kershaw and wait for May to heal up.

I trust the front office. We can't run deep in the playoffs every year, but we'll likely contend for the division most years.
