Unprecedented is just a bad word choice. I get what you're going for, but there's nothing in pro sports in the last 20 years that comes close to comparing to Ohtani if we're using words like that. And that's especially true if we're just talking about HRs. Stanton hit 59 HRs in 2017 without the benefit of playing in a little league park. It's not that much of a stretch to think someone could randomly hit 3 more, especially while playing half their games in Williamsport.
For sure. Judge's season is a lot of things. I think using words like that in comparison to Ohtani is just asking for pushback that's not necessary with the point you're trying to make.
fucking goddammit man. ALS is fucking brutal. I knew she didn't look super well. Not that I listen to her a ton, but any young person getting ALS is fucking brutal
Cross posting with worst tweets of all time... There are probably VP's there that are single moms with 2 kids making 85k. Bob seems to be under the impression that a VP there is second on the org chart.
Heard a stat this morning that illustrated the way the game has changed. I don't remember the exact numbers but it was roughly: Different pitchers faced '27 Ruth - 67 '61 Maris - 120 '22 Judge - 255
As bad as he was for stretches of this year, I'm not sure Baez would make my top 5 most disappointing Tigers, let alone players in the big leagues. Granted, my expectations for Baez were much lower than the Tigers' were for him.
After his 1h, Devers gets 2h disappointment for me. .981 1h OPS to .713 2h OPS. Looks like it was really just one awful month but jeez what a month lol
Ive heard through like 4 degrees separated mutual friends (ie not a reliable source) he just doesn’t like baseball all that much.
Giolito or Berrios Olson, Semien, Seager, Vlad Jr (6th to 60th in WAR), Tatis. Lots of good picks at the plate
pretty productive when healthy, but only played in 42 games. hard to fault a guy for getting injured.
Semien and Seager still finished at 4+ fWAR this year despite massive drops in offensive production. Has to be disappointing given what those deals will look like on the back end, but still probably not that bad enough to put them in this convo compared to guys like Castellanos, Berrios, etc.
Olson’s September slump tanked his average, but he was still tied for second in the league in XBHs and hit 34 homers.
I'm not going to get into the individual teams but I think it's pretty ridiculous they think the combined odds of the four teams with byes is under 60%
If you assign any one team with a 55-60% chance of winning a series, the odds of doing that three times is 16.6% for 55% and 21.6% at 60%. They are probably assuming a 65-70% chance that the high seeds win their first round, but it probably drops to 50/50 in the LCS/WS. It's just the math in a sport where we see the playoffs are incredibly random.
They're the only site that feels that way and people who tail them for betting will get crushed long-term. Sportsbooks odds will be way more realistic
For heaven's sake they have the Dodgers as the underdog to get out of the LDS without even knowing their opponent at this point
Am I correct in interpreting that by that logic they have the Dodgers as more likely to win the LCS, assuming they do get there, than they were to win the LDS? I am going off of it is < 50% and then > 25% the next round. If it was just 50/50 the whole way wouldn't it be 50, 25, 12.5.
