the real uncle stevie stepped in and told mara the tisch family was tired of it and it’s time to operate a real franchise again
This is bizarre. Just hire him or don’t. What’s it matter what the media normalizes? He will be judged on wins and losses. He isn’t recruiting in CFB. This is the nfl. Perception at the time of hiring is not relevant.
Hiring someone who literally has never been a coach would be 1) unprecedented 2) a slap in the face of many qualified candidates / the fanbase 3) another frustrating reminder of non-diverse hiring practices around the league
and is any of that gonna change by leaking stuff to the media over the next week? Just own it and hope he wins to prove people wrong. no one is gonna think it is a good hire until proven otherwise
They made a movie with Kevin James as Payton about when he coached his son's youth team while he was suspended for Bountygate
Aren’t he and McCown both Uber-Christian? Or am I thinking if someone else? Should have kept scrolling. Maybe they’ll bring in Tebow too. What a weird dynamic for a professional franchise.
At first thought whoa that's wild but then looked and saw they gave up the most yards through the air this season
Baltimore's pass D was bad this year, but they had a lot of injuries and it was coming off 5 straight years of having one of the 5-7 best defenses in the league. And it probably didn't help that they lost 75% of their defensive staff between Cullen (Jacksonville DC), MacDonald (Michigan DC) and Minter (Vandy DC) to other jobs.
I'd be good with Bowles. Not sure anyone should be purely judged by coaching the Jets Vikings owners looking for a Mike Tomlin type of personality that they had when he was the DC long ago. Pretty much someone that doesnt smile when he releases players and will take a bit of blame for a loss.
So current guesses... Denver - Quinn NYG - Daboll Minnesota - Bowles Jacksonville - Leftwich Las Vegas - Flores Houston - Gannon Chicago - Caldwell Miami - McDaniel Eberflus probably lands in there somewhere in either Jacksonville or Chicago. I have no clue what is happening in Miami, Las Vegas or Houston.
Hope he sticks around for a bit longer. But we got to make some hard cuts and have no QB. If he were to retire or take another a job now is the time to do it.
Bowles, Morris, and Ryans sound like the leaders for Minnesota. I'd be happy with any of them. Defense was much more of an issue and is more of an issue moving forward than offense.
Sounds like Bieniemy isn't even a candidate for any of these jobs. There's got to be something there behind the scenes that the media either doesn't know or won't report when it comes to him as a candidate in these interviews.
