and im sure that’s what he’ll tell teams in these upcoming interviews
maybe the bolded, but the idea that tua wasn't flores' guy has been in the news since at least this summer
I find it hard to believe Grier took a QB that the coach flat out didn't want.
Hines ward? What?
Lombardi is more embarrassing, IMO
going from FAU WR coach to NFL HC would be one giant leap for mankind
and I think he was just named the WR coach this year
Joe Lombardi? What has he done to warrant even an interview?
His last name
Lombardi was OC for the 4th best offense in the league by DVOA. Is he less qualified than the 49ers' young OC (5th best by DVOA) that is also getting interviews?
Is this the new way forward re: transparency for head coaching interviews. I don’t recall teams in the past being this out in the open about who they’re considering.
Fair enough about LAC, but his first attempt at being a OC was bad and I wasn't impressed when I watched LAC this year. Granted, maybe that's because I was biased against him from his Detroit days a while back.
i'm not convinced he's all that great or anything and it definitely felt like LAC played way too much like the Saints (especially early in the year) with a totally different arm-talent qb at the helm. but he did have success this year (because of herbert? tbd) so i don't think him getting an interview would be bad. houston probably just asked him about gameplanning and development for a 2nd year qb in mills because he just did it.
Hines Ward was an analyst for FAU last year ("special assistant to the head coach") and is just now the WR coach. that's an insane interview.
Seems as though none of these teams are in any hurry to do anything this year, although maybe that's a good thing with all the teams still left in the playoffs.
Could have sworn I read Leslie Frazier is a favorite in Chicago last week, and today the reports are that he's not interviewing there until Friday of this week.
seems Chicago has been the most aggressive in terms of just requesting/setting up interviews
Miami was reportedly in Buffalo to interview their guys but other than that it seems like they are taking their sweet time
Agree with whoever said you just got rid of a better defensive coach with Fangio. Doesn’t make sense.
I think this is kind of unfair to Quinn because I don't think he and Fangio are similar in how they go about the HC job, but I don't know enough about why things fell apart in Atlanta to know what to make of him as a HC.
He sat under the learning tree of Mike McCarthy this year so he should show tremendous improvement in his second HC job.
It fell apart after giving up a 25 point lead in the Super Bowl
they were winning seemingly every game the last couple of years he was hc and somehow lost way too many of those games
Looking forward to hearing that all the bad picks were actually Mayocks fault afterall.
He’s an infuriating head coach, his entire tenure in Atlanta I can’t pinpoint one thing he did well. The SB season was almost entirely Shanahan/Lafleur looking back. Epic 4th quarter collapses, head scratching in game management. Everyone remembers 28-3 but that is just 1 of 50 nearly identical games. I cannot for the life of me figure out how he is suddenly in discussion to become a HC. Shows just how clueless these teams are I guess.
Don’t forget leaving us in cap hell
The head coach did this?
Sounds like a problem with the people that let a first time head coach make such decisions
Dan Patrick said today that apparently the Vikings are really interested in Bienemy?
when is the last time DP was right about anything?
Dan Quinn, down 4 with about 3 minutes to go, 4th and goal on 1 yard line — kicked FG and never saw ball again. Many people consider it the single dumbest Coaching move of all time.
28-3 gets a lot of attention but it wasn’t in the top 10 of his dumbest moves.
You guys like Mike McCarthy game management? Because he is John Harbaugh in comparison
I'm just sharing some chatter. Isn't that the point of this thread?
it was a joke man. it was not some personal attack
I know it wasn't an attack. I just was thrown off by the post considering all the other random news bits shared.
Dan is just on quite a hot streak. He always thinks he has some insight into Big Ten rumors and is always wrong
He did coach there under the current ownership
Is Quinn to Denver the only one so far that seems likely to happen? I haven't seen anything else that would really suggest anyone is a serious favorite at any of the other openings.
Bieniemy certainly has the resume deserving of a HC opportunity and I hope he gets that chance based on merit, but at this point I mainly want him to get one so everyone has to shut up about it and we can see if he's good or not.
He’s the black Matt Nagy, good fucking luck with that.
I’d like him to get a job on the off chance he is important to KC’s success and they become slightly worse
Yeah coaches have no input in paying in contracts given to their players. Anyone that hires Quinn or Dimitroff is and idiot
I'm still betting Schoen and Daboll for NYG but they cast a wide net on the GM search
I'm going with Mike Tannenbaum and Adam Gase.
what a sexy man
