This all seems so ridiculous. The Packers can't trade or waive him because he'd count for about $100M against the cap in that scenario, and he's not going to give away $60M to retire. He's going to return to GB next season and is just milking the attention.

 

The cap hit if he is traded or retired after this year is $40 million, it goes up to $68 million after next year, and $76 million after 24. The thought is that if there is a soft landing from this contract that this is the year.

The $100 million is if he's waived.

These coaches are in no win situations. They rest starters they're cowards, they play them and someone gets hurt it's coaching malpractice. They play them and win then they're "building on momentum." Coughlin played everyone week 17 against the undefeated Pats in 07 and lost a banger of a game, don't think they win the super bowl and beat those Pats without that experience.
