would pay good money to see Pittman legit smack the dogshit out of Jimbo… but I’m sure everyone else would too.
He was more willing to blitz than Kirby which made him a better DC at that time. Not sure how GUMP didn't know Pruitt was a moron tho
Pruitt's ceiling is being a good dc under a strong CEO HC so he works under Saban. Did not work that great under Richt
Not knowing Pruitt was an absolute dunce who just happens to be a good DC only if he’s working under a heavy handed type A HC is on you man bc that has always been crystal clear he is an unsophisticated hillbilly and his defensive prowess is 100% Nicks System and his desire to be aggressive when he had nfl DBs
Give us Cam and they take Garcia and let’s see how that game turns out. We weren’t outplayed just outspent
Golding is good against a lot of teams but still questionable at best against elite offenses. But everyone kinda is in this era or CFB. It's tough to stand back and realistically blame him for all our defensive issues over the past few years, but its easier in the moment when he's rushing 3 on 3rd and long like Kirby would near the end of his tenure and we give up big plays. You're certainly restricted by your personell to some degree. And Pruitt obviously got to work with some of the most loaded defenses we ever had. Having Anderson/Turner may give Pete more freedom to drop 6 in coverage currently but we're talking a generational talent so... Ultimately I prefer taking the gamble and bringing blitzes more frequently but this isn't NCAA '14 and it's not always gonna work. But that's why you try and recruit elite players. If we blitz and get beat deep, at least you tried. If you don't and get beat, it's harder to stomach and feels more like an alignment/play calling issue. Just my
I don't think I heard the words alabama or georgia uttered in any high school class I had, except for maybe something dealing with obesity statistics
They said the same when Butch Jones was an analyst. The Nick Saban Coaching Rehab clinic is above reproach.
Would legit love to hear him break down stuff but fear it’ll be halfass stuff tv-wise. Him finding the wheel routes in 2020 should be celebrated but won’t for a few reasons.
Apparently, Cutcliffe is working for the SEC and probably just mostly hanging out with his grandkids, but he would be great on TV.
The DCs who seemingly always defer to dropping extra guys in coverage, tend to have been guys who played DB, so they value coverage more. The problem with that logic, is that college QBs tend to struggle more, with pressure in their faces, than seeing more guys dropped in coverage. It becomes glorified 7 on 7 ball, which when a QB has time, is easy and completely second nature for them.
