Just saw that Ovie was gifted a Messi jersey for his 1000th game by his teammates https://apnews.com/article/world-cu...ton-capitals-b48a1529a307f3c712ca169df474077a
Im still in disbelief from yesterday....just an amazing game, one of the best ive seen in any sport. That 2nd mbappe goal was maybe the most amazing thing ive seen in football Just a casual heat check. Like throwing the ball up to randy moss and letting him score
Heard it somewhere today and I agree, whether or not Giroud was hurt, Deschamps totally through he and Dembele under the bus. Neither were first choice and had performed admirably all tourney, yet at the first opportunity they were sacrificed when there were definitely other issues out there with what France were doing.
Dembele was terrible and Giroud was probably worn down, he's like 37. He wasn't the issue, but I can't blame him trying to get fresher legs out there. France was a disaster for 75 minutes.
I’m not sure what you’re chasing here. Should he have done nothing? Mbappé and Griezmann were the best of their attack through the WC so it’s pretty understandable not to pull them even if they should’ve possibly either pulled Griez or moved him up further for a real mid
I agree with the one commenter who complains about Croatia and Morocco advancing to the semi-finals. We’d have missed out on the crazy Croatia comeback win and the Morocco cinderella run, but Argentina vs. Brazil and France vs. Portugal (or even Spain) had the potential to be much better semi-final matches.
I agreed with your take that the drama was there but the play wasn’t and that Artoo was incorrect in his talk of playing midseason equaling better so players were in form. I don’t agree with your take that it was trash. Good play or not, it was incredibly entertaining and that’s what most are looking for
International soccer still sucks, despite some great moments at this WC & the excitement nationalism can bring.
I guess I don’t understand the complaint, that’s on Brazil and Spain and Portugal to take care of their own business, no one else (Fifa, Qatar, Joe Biden) did anything to drag them back. They’re not going to get a freebie pass to the quarters/semis for any required traditional powerhouse matchups.
No one’s blaming anything beyond the teams themselves. Just lamenting that we missed out on some potentially great matchups.
This happens basically every WC, and I had little desire to see Spain advance with their 75% possession and very few big chances with that possession.
You didn’t quote me so I didn’t see this but I’m not chasing anything. I believe deschamps did a good job navigating all of their people who went out but also kept some extremely talented people out of the plan. I already made my point about the cya early sub.
Read a headline saying Mbappe knew France would lose in penalties and a 10 year old could score a penalty on Lloris and got excited. Sadly was just Agbonlahor running his big mouth.
Random: Rashy has 18 goal involvements (14G/4A) 17 appearances since the France game. I would imagine that game went differently had he gotten more than 6 mins; interestingly subbed in after Mount and Sterling.
