I could have sworn there was a rule that you couldn't schedule FBS teams, but had no clue there was a rule you have to schedule at least one power 5-ish team. I need to review my B1G bylaws.
no need. They just make it up as they go when the Bucks whinge about something that doesn’t go their way
I mean I guess when you can’t win on the field you just complain about the other team’s schedule. It’s a sad state of affairs.
you’re thinking of FCS. But that’s clearly not a rule because you’ll never guess who played FCS teams last year.
I like having one big nonconference game each year. It helps recruiting and national exposure, and the downside of a loss isn’t bad anymore. I could care less if we beat Toledo 77-21 or Akron 59-7. We have Youngstown State as an FCS this year and they have to package that ticket with other games just to sell it.
For about a decade we had MSU and OSU either both home or both away, and the home schedule when we were away in those games was brutal.
In 1995, Ohio State played nonconference games against Boston College, Pitt, Washington, and Notre Dame. That seems unimagineable now.
In 1995, Ohio State had Orlando Pace, Eddie George, Terry Glenn, Shawn Springs and Mike Vrabel. Seems unimaginable a team that talented could possibly lose a game. I'm assuming they didn't, but don't recall how it ended.
Everytime I hear the name Shawn Springs, I just hear David Boston saying (about Charles Woodson, the undisputed greatest college football player of all time), "He ain't no Shawn Springs"
I like to imagine the outrage if Indiana beat us in 2020 and we got sent to Indy because the last opponent on Indiana's schedule ducked them.
Is this real mad or fake mad, I can’t tell. Please don’t respond with fake clips of Kirk Ferentz that likely will confuse me even more.
The reason our non-conference schedule is so shitty is to give Gus and Joe a chance to see other teams.
I'd imagine all games involving those three will be this year (and probably most years going forward).
