You'd be penalizing entire city economies with that move. Just cut them out of the playoff pie or make the financial penalities worse.
Or you know just let the fans have their fun and enjoy the fact that people care that much about your university
I wouldn't have disagreed a few years ago. Can't say I'd really want to be on the field in sec country when some drunk redneck who hates me storms the field, though. Probably only a matter of time until someone gets shot.
How are they supposed to prevent it? Unless they can win the world’s toughest Red Rover match against their fans. Knowing the penalties exist may stop some. But in huge moment, that won’t mean anything to hyped-up students and boozed-up fans. I wouldn’t bet on minimum wage yellow coats going out of their way to physically stop waves of people.
Police with night sticks stop the crowd, when they want the crowd stopped (2010 USC vs Bama). Police stand aside when administrators have decided to eat the fine (this year vs Tennessee)
But times have changed since 2010. Police with night sticks vs a crowd of students would be worse for the school in the long-run than any penalty the SEC gives them.
Idk if I agree. CBS captured police busting heads as the credits were rolling on the game and people complained. Granted there would be more videos from more angles now probably. My experience at SC is you can tell when they are being super serious about not rushing the court/field. They present sufficient strength that no one is gonna try it. Versus this year by the end of the Tennessee game, it was apparent that higher ups had decided it was worth the fine and would not resist.
You’ve got to hand it to A&M…understanding the root cause and working hand in hand with the football staff to limit their exposure to potential field stormings.
Sounds like a good idea for one of those schools that bounce checks. Ours get rings with snacks on them.
Consider yourself lucky you got one. Actually in SC? I’m hoping to make it to the game in Morgantown next year. Have a reminder to jump on hotels as soon as they open up.
I was calling every Monday for months until they went on sale. Yes it’s a 3 miles drive to the stadium
