one thing i still don't really get about f1 is why the car art/paint generates so much response. here, reddit, twitter... seems like everyone chimes in on each individual team. maybe that happened 20 years ago in other sports (specifically thinking of Oregon) but i don't think people care now about jersey releases in general.
It's how they market it. There's hardly any news this time of year until then. Every year, seeing each new cars livery is like the first signal that the season is around the corner. It gives the fans something, anything to discuss/be excited about.
Especially on years with regulation changes you can see significant changes to the car (last year) this year I would imagine we see a few tweaks but not much to the body work.
Even down to the shittiest quarter mile tracks in the middle of nowhere, a racecar's paint job/sponsorship/number is a point of interest. This would encompasses tens of thousands of individual cars at any given time. Don't think you can compare it to any sport uniform discussion, at least for US based leagues. Maybe major European soccer or World cup kits are on the same scale, idk.
It will be pretty disappointing if Ford’s F1 entry is basically just sponsoring the RB team and not being a constructor
Red Bull has been looking for someone to put their name on the Red Bull Power Train engine for a while now. I'm glad it says Ford is providing some technical input, but its far from being their engine.
It's a good and classic livery at this point but I do wish they'd change it up more than whatever minor details they change each year. It's such a cool color scheme they could do so many different things with.
The Honda Japanese throwback livery was one of the most beautiful liveries I've ever seen. On par with the Gulf McLaren livery at Monaco a few years ago.
The Race pod dudes being pissy because RB put out last years car and tried to claim it was the 2023 car will never not be funny to me. I think most teams are not going to show the 2023 car and only the paint schemes. But we shall see
