Brilliant driving from Carlos stopped brilliant strategy from Merc which made for a brilliant race, I’m more just laughing at when George moaned to the team a few weeks ago about strategy taking him out of the race, “thought I was projected for a podium” he said obnoxiously, and then this week it hand delivers him a podium and a chance at a win and he bins it on the last lap.
I get the George hate, but he's really fucking fast, young & has coped with Hamilton being a teammate as well as anyone. Gonna be tons of podiums in his future
There's a couple of us out here. Been a fan of George's going back to his Mr. Saturday days with Williams. Now that he's got a Merc spotlight on him people are going to be much more critical of him and I get it but like you said...he's always been fast, both in qualifying and now in the actual races. He needs some more years under his belt to refine himself overall as an F1 driver but he's got a bright future.
I get that. He's a 1/4th as bad (about complaining) as Max was several seasons back... just WAY more British about it.
Wtf happened to Leclerc? I understand backing off once both Mercedes got past, but I think Verstappen made up close to 18 seconds in the final 8 laps and finished 2 tenths back
Tires were absolutely toast. He didn’t have the option to coast and care for his tires after the pit like Sainz did
Interesting spin considering the actual race result showed that both drivers were under immense pressure in the last several laps and Lando kept his cool to bring home a podium while George tagged a wall.
To be fair to Lando... Neither Marc was able to pass prior to the safety car pit & tire swap. The way it played out, both he & Sainz were forced to defend & try to hang on
Norris is 12 points behind Russell in the driver's champsionship despite basically not being able to score any points until 9 races into the season. He also has 3 podiums this year to George's 1. Give me Lando.
Definitely. I thought his "tearful" interview yesterday painted him in a pretty good light... thoughtful, focused, took responsibility for this mistake/loss of focus & human.
lol everyone usually does that anyway. It's like Russell but add the Ferrari fuckupery It's also pretty funny how much crazy shit is going on that never makes it to the broadcast and how uninformed the commentators actually are about what's going on. I don't always do it, but listening to the team radios is a lot of fun and gives you a much better picture.
I wonder where Lawson ends up, he's shown too much pace to not be on the grid next season. Sounds like the Riccardo thing isn't finalized yet, but he's expected to.
I've heard RB want Williams to take him on loan for next year to see how he does against Albon before putting him straight into the RB.
Lando didn't do anything... Lando can thank Carlos for the 2nd place finish. Carlos kept him in the DRS and Lando also hit the wall right before George did... Good for Lando but please skip the "Lando just took George to school"
Having DRS obviously helped him but he still held George off when George had much better tires. The Merc ran them down but couldn't pass when they got to Lando. Even with both having DRS, George still had the advantage.
Fantastic race from Carlos and props to Charles for being a great teammate. He could've easily forced a pit under the SC and really fucked Carlos. Don't think the reg changes caused the redbull to fall off a cliff this weekend, we should have a better picture next week in Japan. But if it did.... oh baby 2024 is going to be fire.
So you think the Mercedes couldn't pass Lando because he is a phenomenal driver and not because they were on a tight track that doesn't allow passing especially when your in a DRS train. I feel bad that you watch F1 and are clueless to what is actually happening on track.
It's extremely hard to pass in Singapore without the benefit of DRS, it's not quite Monaco level hard but it's one of the toughest on the calendar. Lando and George having the same engine makes passing when both have DRS on this circuit nearly impossible. The benefit of fresher tires doesn't help in a straight line, it's in the corners and braking zones.
The Race channel on YouTube did a great overview of what caused RB to fail this weekend. Doesn't seem like TD and more about the track and mistakes made in their setup. And car just not ideal for that type of track.
I was thinking this is most logical spot if they don't cut Yuki. Lawson clearly is better than sargaent who hasn't done anything to justify him having a seat still. That said...feel like Yuki should be cut at this point.
I was listening to this as well, sounds like the bumps and curbs of Singapore caused RB to have to raise the ride height to a place where the floor was no longer as effective. Combined with a mistake in suspension tuning and it went poorly. Had they known what they know now they would have been fine.
He asked, was told no and didn't fight it on the radio. After the race he made the comment along the line of his role Sunday was to help Carlos win the race and if he had wanted to win the race he should've been quicker on Saturday. He's a great dude.
