Damn bad timing. Guess he's cleared
I also disavow racism in all forms.
This isn't an apology.
Vips just got DotD in my F2 race on F1 22
I know I'm late to the game, and people can dislike him on course or for winning so much etc, but as a person, Hamilton seems like a really good person.
Because he is. I think he gets a bit whiny when things don't go his way, but all things considered, he's a great person. He stands up for those less fortunate and gives away a lot of money.
Has anyone seen Piquet's actual comments translated? They must be awful, but I have only seen vague references to the Brazilian racist term.
We're awaiting your statement
Also doesn’t seem particularly accurate as I’ve seen many people say it is a derogatory term. If it just meant “guy,” he wouldn’t be apologizing
My wife has been saying Max reminds her of a Nazi for a while. This will not help her absolute hate for that man.
Does your wife know of the aryan looking mick Schumacher
Yeah I think she wants to fuck him.
Tell her to get in line
Yes, he refers to every other driver by their Christian name but Lewis as "the black guy." So even though the translation is not as bad as the n word, in context it's bad anyway.
Got it. Never doubted that piquet sucks as a human. The bolsonaro shit was all I needed to know.
And I believe it used the diminutive -inho on there, so “little black guy.”
In his culture it could not be offensive and yet he would have a ton of reasons to still apologize, especially given the close links to the next mega star of F1. After reading his apology I believe he isn’t sorry because in his culture this is acceptable but he was told from Max and the powers that be around him to walk it back some.
Even if not considered offensive in his culture I’d imagine a three time world champion has seen enough of the world to maybe keep that one to yourself.
Meh, This is where the American influence and the need to gimmick the sport shows.
Maybe Pirelli is pushing for this move to preserve how much rubber is used in a weekend but I don’t like the idea of not allowing these cars to go flat out for qualifying
While it could lead to some grid shake up it seems pretty dumb. I want to see cars in quali trim going as fast as possible for all three sessions.
What's the point of the tire changes for quali?
Sprint event weekends are great. Wish they would do half and half.
Time for Formula 1 to trim the fat with their olds.
I guess when you have fuck you money, why the hell not?
I mean he's fashion icon as well, so not really too surprised.
It does look like he woke up and was like today im going to be a Crown Royal bag
I'll say it, regardless of his presence in the fashion world, his personal fashion is crap
Not sure white Kansas man is who he's trying to impress
Doesn't mean I can't have #takes
I am decidedly not the best judge of fashion
Why does it feel like it's been 3 weeks since the last race.
Two days late, but he eventually said the right thing.
No reason he couldn't have just put that out himself a day or two ago
Alpine and Williams have both brought significant updates to Silverstone. Haven't seen pictures of the Mercedes yet, but they were reported to done that as well.
Assume we will see a shakeup of the midfield to an extent here.
Red Bull brought a new engine cover which is supposed to increase performance of the rear wing
Oh be still my racist heart
I suppose there is the possibility for nuance here. As a matter of linguistics, language typically takes a generation or two to catch up with the customs/social mores. For example, I don't believe that Dolly Parton is a racist person, but she did have Dolly's Dixie Stampede until like 5 years ago. People now a days stray away from using the term "Plantation" to describe anything other than said southern estate. I suppose is it possible for both things Max said to be true, i.e., Piquet uses words and language that are racially insensitive or inappropriate in 2022, but to Nelson has been used from the moment of his birth in his culture and is just so ingrained in him that he uses it without an intent to be racist or as an racially insulting word.
Now let me be clear, I don't buy it. I think Nelson absolutely meant it as racist, and I think a lot of reporters have done a very good job of analyzing and debunking Nelson's response. I'm not buying what Max is selling, but there does exist a small sliver in the Racist Language/Not a Racist Venn diagram.
Totally agree, but I could also see how your girlfriend's dad saying in appropriate shit isn't something you want to issue a knee jerk reaction too. Either way, he denounced what was said, agreed Hamilton's reaction and said he supported everything Louis is doing to rid the sport of that. Now we just need to move on and do exactly what Louis said should be done: Not give these racist old fossils a platform.
