People used to do the same thing on 2k, they'd ddos the server and everyone in the park would get disconnected, take an L for the game they are in, and have to reconnect. Happened to us several times on long streaks. People would do it just to end your streak bc they couldn't beat you. Idk how they fixed it but it hasn't been an issue in a few years.
