Wouldn't be shocked if it's Ohio State at all. IIRC Harris isn't even an Alabama kid and only recently moved here so I don't think the hometown school thing has much power over him
Harris seems pretty flirtatious with UNC but I don't have any illusions of grabbing a 5 star out of Alabama
He’s from California originally, no clue how long he’s been in Alabama though. California to Phoenix City…damn that sucks
I'm going to assume he'll pick Bama because Bama and be pleasantly surprised if it's us. Still waiting for anyone at 247 to acknowledge that Ohio State is even a factor for him. It's all Bama/Georgia/Clemson according to them.
We have two other 5 star corners in-state that are at Bama pipelines in Jahlil Hurley and Tony Mitchell. Both are considered locks along with good odds with Cormani Mcclain and Caleb Downs like our UGA and UNC guys just mentioned. It's a pretty crowded list we got so no telling how that effects AJ Harris. All we know is he was considered a longshot a few months ago and that the recruitment wasn't going well but it changed recently If we can convince Mitchell, Hurley, Harris, Downs, and maybe even Mcclain to be in the same class I'll be pretty shocked that's a tough pull although I think we can sell a few on playing multiple positions including safety
Also we(UGA fans) have to see who all the overhyped kids are currently in Georgia. Once the camps happen most of the 5*’s in Ga will drop to 3*’s.
Not sure. Just know that our best sourced people (notably former user Birm ) are adamant that Ohio State is up near the top, and have been for a while. Also while I have you here, the fuck do you need Hero Kanu for with all the other mutant d-lineman you're recruiting in the '22 cycle?
Honestly not all that sure on Kanu. Didn’t think we were really in it but his OV got him. If we do indeed get him. The staff moved West out for him so they must like him a lot. I want to take this Deone Walker kid out of Detroit just to read The Victors Club.
Yea its weird and idk how to feel about it. Id always rather take the instate kid all else equal. But hard for us to not trust our staff.
If yall are looking for DL next year I'm sure you'll be able to sweep in on some of the DL guys we can't fit into the class next year and it's not like they won't be good either. There's no way we can land and take all of them. This must be what it feels like to have in-state recruiting like Georgia. In Alabama we have -Lebbeus Overton-3rd in the country(Yes I'm counting him he lived in Bama all his life until last year) -James Smith-7th -Peter Woods-21st -Kelby Collins-63rd -Keldric Faulk-64th -Jaquavious Russaw-78th -Tomarrion Parker-85th Wouldn't be surprised to see Collins and Russaw move up into the 5 star range. Both are freak shows SuperCam yall feeling good about anyone in particular?
I saw Rusty Mansell said Ohio State leads for Lebbeus Overton. We totally believe it and fully expect to land the kid!
Alabama is fucking loaded. I know we are on Smith, Collins and Russaw but recruiting kids in Al is a fools errand for us.
How's Clay Webb doing these days? Smith is the one I think we're in a real dogfight for. He seems pretty open to a lot of places. I think Ohio State is making a move on him too but I could be wrong
Webb was actually coming on strong last off-season. Then he got sick, mono maybe? He lost a lot of weight, then got hurt and hasn’t really gotten back since. Rumor was he wanted to give up football to go into the Air Force or some type of military.
It seems like Parker from Phenix City has visited the most. I think we like the kid in Eufaula a lot too. It was said when he visited for Big Cat that Vic Burley and our DL coach are related/cousins, but I haven't read anything that suggests he's expected to end up here though. Faulk, Parker, Pierre, and someone else would be a massive upgrade from how the 2022 class is going.
something really weird happened on that kids official to ND and I want to know what it was because ND abruptly stopped recruiting him while he was there. regardless he’s a good get
On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons shares some insider intel on what he is hearing around some of the elite juniors. Texas buzz fading a little around Arch Manning? It is playoffs time in Louisiana, and that is all Arch Manning is thinking about right now, but I have talked to a couple of sources close to his recruitment in recent weeks, and the buzz is a little different. Texas is still up there. There is no doubt that Manning has connected with Steve Sarkisian. He loves his offensive mind, and what Austin presents on and off the field has his attention. I am hearing a lot about Georgia, too, though. Even more about Georgia in recent weeks than I am about Texas. Ole Miss is another school that may be higher on the list than some thought just a month ago. Alabama is still very much in this too. Clemsonlooks to be down the list some based on one source close to this. Georgia has Matt Luke, someone close to the Manning family, and offensive coordinator Todd Monkenhas really impressed Arch. I am not ready to call Georgia the clear favorite, but I have had multiple sources tell me they feel Georgia is in a great spot. A decision is not expected until next spring, so multiple visits will be taken, there could be coaching shake-ups on some level with a school or two on his list, so there is still a ways to go. What I can say is, Texas does not look to have the momentum it seemed to have just five or six weeks ago. Alabama-Georgia battle brewing for DL James Smith After playing much of the season at IMG Academy, James Smith is back in Montgomery (Ala.) at Carver High. He is back in Alabama. And he has visited Alabama already this season. The Crimson Tide is expected to be hard to beat for the five-star defensive lineman. An early competitor has emerged for Alabama though, and it is Georgia. The defensive line, Kirby Smart, and the Bulldog’s play this season have really appealed to the Smith. He was in Athens for the Arkansas game and this could be shaping up to be a battle between Nick Saban and Kirby Smart. Multiple decisions coming for Lebbeus Overton? The chatter behind the scenes is not so much about recruiting, but about where Lebbeus Overton will be his senior year, and if this could actually be his senior year. When the five-star’s name comes up in my circles, I hear about the option he has to re-classify into the 2022 class and how he could play at IMG Academy next fall. Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State and Oklahoma are some of the schools considered contenders for Overton, and if he was to re-classify, a decision could be coming much sooner than expected. I cannot say how strongly Overton and his circle are considering this option, but I do know it has been discussed. It is something I am keeping an eye on. Don’t sleep on North Carolina with AJ Harris The buzz has been around schools like Alabama, Clemson, Georgia and Ohio State, but North Carolina is very much in the mix with Phenix City (Ala.) Glenwood School cornerback AJ Harris. He was in Chapel Hill a couple of weeks ago and the Tar Heels made another strong impression. From the academics to the depth chart to the connection with Dre Bly — UNC is in this. Based on what I am hearing, it looks like Harris will make a decision on Jan. 11, on his birthday. Notre Dame commit Keon Keeley to take visits? The only visit this season Tampa (Fla.) Berkeley Prep five-star EDGE Keon Keeley has taken is to Notre Dame. That was a couple of weeks ago for the North Carolina game. It looks like in the off-season, there could be other visits coming. Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Michigan and many others are working to get him on campus. Keeley enjoyed his trip to South Bend, but he is still listening to other schools. Is there an outside contender for Reuben Owens? It is obvious that Texas and Texas A&M are expected to be in the race for El Campo (Texas) running back Reuben Owens. But is there a third team to watch? Keep an eye on Georgia. I know the Owens family likes Dell McGee, McGee likes Owens a lot, and the two seem to have a mutual interest in each other. Another source told me Owens and Manning have become good friends and could take some visits together in 2022. This is something else to watch. Zachariah Branch won’t wait as long as his brother On Dec. 15, Zion Branch will announce his decision. The four-star safety out of Las Vegas Bishop Gorman will commit between Ohio State, Oregon, and USC. His younger brother, Zachariah Branch, isn’t expected to wait that long. Branch told On3 recently that he will not take his recruitment into his senior year. How soon could he commit? That is still undecided, but it could happen in the first half of 2022. Ohio State and USC are two schools to watch closely. Things have shifted for Tony Mitchell Early on, Tony Mitchell was all about leaving the state. The star out of Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson was talking about Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Texas A&M and others, but things have shifted. Alabama is back and in a big way. The Crimson Tide has gotten Mitchell on campus numerous times this season and I like Alabama as the leader at this time. He is expected back at Georgia this weekend, but staying home looks much more likely now than it did a few months ago for Mitchell. Joenel Aguero headed to the SEC? Joenel Aguero is an elite safety that played this season at IMG Academy. He has moved back to Massachusetts to finish out his high school career back home. Aguero is at St. John’s Prep and he is visiting Boston College this weekend. Do not expect him to stay in the Northeast for college, though. The early buzz is around Georgia. He was at the Arkansas games this season after spending time in Athens over the summer. It is unknown how early Aguero could commit, but it looks like a decision could come early for the four-star.
Gonna feel for Ole Miss fans when Kiffin gets beat out by Matt Luke for Arch Manning Jake Scott wes tegg
Pelican I asked before hope you're still up anything related to Troy Bowles? Spoiler had some good players from my hs but nothing like a LB everyone wants, was in Gainesville for UF-FSU but seems like a kid who'll go up north
Last I heard he was supposedly close to committing to Ohio State, but that was a few months back when he was in the midst of multiple trips to Columbus. I haven’t heard much of late tbh.
yea interested to see what happens to the California spigot several of us had been drinking from that fountain. Riley should get some juice on the trail, but he struggled with Defensive front 7 recruits at OU.
Starting to get the vibe that we'll probably end up with Nicholaus Iamaleava as our QB in this class. He said in an interview with Tennessee 247 that he's looking to go to an SEC school
Surprisingly he visited them yesterday. That's a good step for them tbh. A 5 star cali QB has not really been a frequent visitor of Knoxville lately
