I just don't really see the issue with being in Reid's shadow. There's no possible way that is the reason he's not a HC right now. He's interviewed for something like 16 HC jobs in the last 3-4 years, and I don't think I've ever seen/heard him listed as a finalist for any of them. In the meantime, we've seen offensive assistants who didn't call plays for respected gurus get jobs. I just can't believe that all these jobs basically dismissed him entirely after one interview because they didn't want to hire an offensive assistant for arguably the best/most influential offensive coach since Bill Walsh.
The bienemy stuff is so dumb for a league that recycles ineffective coaches like a saban rehab clinic. I will literally fire todd bowles today to give that man a hc job
I don't really disagree with you, but I can't think of what else his motivation is to move on other than to escape Reid's shadow.
He obviously wants to be a head coach, and he just think this is the only viable way for him to get there at this point considering he’s been passed over 15-16 times with his current situation.
Agreed that this has to be his motivation. I'm just laying out the reasons why I don't think it's smart (which it seems we agree on). He's the most fascinating guy in the league for me at this point. I would love to hear some honest, behind the scenes stuff here of why he's not a finalist for any of these jobs, what the feedback he's gotten from teams is, etc. Because the only reasons for him not being a HC simply can't be "he's black" and "the league is suddenly averse to hiring Andy Reid assistants".
I’m just tired of the skeletons in the closet excuse that’s been used. If he’s able to be an NFL OC, I don’t see how he can have anything crazy enough to prevent him from being an HC.
there have been whispers that he’s bad at interviewing (which I have a hard time believing given that he’s pretty good in press conferences) more notably he had legal issues at when he was a player and college coach, the most concerning of which involved allegedly threatening a female parking attendant. with that said the most recent of these was in 2001
We are talking about the Chiefs, here. Skeletons in the closet doesn't seem to be a deal breaker for KC when it comes to just about anything behavioral.
someone tweeted Alex Smith as qb coach would I wouldn’t mind at all. knows the offense and is already tight with Mahomes
Nvm But, does he just want out of the college level? Surprised Saban didn’t turn up the heat to pull him in.
This is going to end with Leonhard taking a consultant type job with GB and replacing Joe Barry sometime between October and February, isn't it?
The bums going to Arizona didn’t bother me, but this one stings. Just give Jeff Scott whatever he wants to be WR coach and PGC.
