What also happened is that the chiefs were good enough that losing Hill didn't weaken the team enough where they still won a super bowl. You can lose an individual trade and still win overall.
Dolphins fan here and I am still extremely happy over the trade. worked out for both sides. The Chiefs hof course have the god Mahomes and they're gonna keep winning as long as he and Andy are there. Probably couldn't say the same about Miami having a winning team without Tyreek.
Chiefs made a conscious decision after losing in the Super Bowl that first and foremost they needed to protect Mahommes. From there he can make it work with Kelce and a bunch of role players. Trading Hill wasn't about extracting value from him as an asset, it was about choosing a path in team building and getting what they could.
