They were awful in Columbus too. There was a group of 8-10 of them in front of us walking to the stadium that decided it would be a good idea to run up to a house party and try to start a fight and they proceeded to get their ass whipped.
I didn’t see any fights, but the way some fans acted at the end of the game you would have thought they just beat a rival by 30. Instead of just being relieved and happy they dodged a massive bullet against a mediocre team, they were taunting dejected Cal fans (not that I’ve known them to be any other way) all after being super quiet and silently shitting themselves all game long.
the oos miami fans are the ones that typically think their Ed Reed jersey automatically makes them Mike Tyson
Yeah apologies for getting the 7 seed when we were ranked 3rd in both the Coaches and AP Poll We also had the 2nd hardest path of any team to get to the natty. Ohio State having the toughest
CB, do you have data that mainly breaks down Brian Kelly's tenure at ND vs Freeman's? Also, do you have recruiting data as well?
alright, here's a look at ND 1992-2009 (pre Kelly), 2010-2021 with Kelly, and 2022-24 with Freeman broken down by a variety of buckets meanwhile here's recruiting data (2022-25 includes portal recruiting while 2010-21 is straight HS/old style talent acquisition) now here's a look at how ND stacked up for four year cycles relative to the rest of P5 in the CFP era (ie 2021-24 for this season ND is a top 10 team in average rating of player signed and BC %) if you want to see anything else let me know, I probably have it lol
@ CB I'm currently hearing LSU fans argue that Brian Kelly won in a more complex era than Freeman. As well as other nonsense. These are pure sour grapes at this point. But I wanted to see the data laid out.
eventually they'll see the truth of his midness and double down on kelly being the only "good" coach in cfb history that can't win a title in Baton Rouge
I think Kelly played more difficult schedules if we are being honest and Freeman has probably benefited a little more from the new recruiting environment and being able to have depth Kelly could only dream of but I also think Kelly is a pretty shitty big game coach as evidenced by his record vs ranked teams and record in the BCSNG and CFP I also think he hasn't had full support at LSU which has harmed his ability to field the type of rosters LSU is accustomed to. and we might be finally seeing that change with the 2025 class as they have done really well in the portal I'll be honest, while I hate Killy, I do think he's a good coach that establishes a high floor, I just have always questioned if he can be a national title winning coach at the FBS level
Kelly is absolutely a high floor, low ceiling type of coach. A very unlikable Mark Richt is probably the perfect description. He’s exactly what ND needed at the time and put ND in a fantastic position to find someone that could do what he couldn’t. We’ll see if Marcus is that guy.
ND’s schedules weren’t really any different under Kelly - they’ve had a very distinct scheduling philosophy since 2014 when the ACC took over Prior to 2014 it was the traditional ND schedule most think of: Mich, MSU, Purdue, Navy, Stanford, USC, BC plus fillers every year (most ND fans miss this schedule)
nothing is gonna overcome his laziness only Bobby wasted more talent (from 2001-2003) but he was also like 140 years old
the stories from behind the scenes man....lol Like when you're OC takes naps in the back row during QB meetings....great sign
no, the structure approach to scheduling hasn't changed. I meant more just what some of those teams are. Kelly faced a better and more competent USC. He got UGa with Kirby, faced some pretty good Oklahoma and Miami teams. Also dealt with Michigan annually for a large portion of his tenure
I'm starting to sketch out the theory that Brian Kelly is CFB Mike McCarthy. This theory isn't fully there yet. But some of the on field issues with assistant shuffles make me believe I have something here. 2025 will say a lot.
still very early and need rosters more finalized, but right now I'd have LSU around a coin flip 10-2/9-3 for 2025 and a CFP contender
I'll start by saying that he's not going anywhere anytime soon. Outside of the chicken man paying his buyout...LSU is stuck with Brian for the next 4-6 seasons imo. I would say a small subset of the fanbase would just be happy with a 1st Rd appearance. So, to answer your question, yes, this team absolutely needs to make it to the quarterfinal to be viewed as an overall success. Now to the 2025 schedule...I'd say the floor is 7-5, and the ceiling is 10-2. I do not think LSU playing @ Clemson, UF, and @ Miss within the first five weeks of the season is a good thing. Realistically they drop one of those three games (if not two). The next big hurdle is that Brian should not drop games he should win. Can LSU go 3-0 against SCAR, Vanderbilt, and A&M? We'll see. Finally, in the back half of the season...I'll say that Arkansas and WKU are auto-wins. I do not think LSU beats Alabama on the road, and traveling to Norman in late November could be spooky weather-wise for dudes from south LA. As of today, I'm saying this team goes 8-4 and misses the playoffs. Finishing in that 15-20 range. L's to Clemson, UF, A&M, and Alabama.
btw, if anyone wants to see their team in a similar breakdown, odds are I have it for all of the above just tag me in here
Predictably, that crew was god awful last night. Just like they were god awful in the Georgia game. And not god awful toward any team either, thankfully. But I’m pretty sure we tried tackling their DL on every drop back and never got called. Constantly mis-spotting balls. Extremely inconsistent calls with regards to DBs being physical downfield. Etc It’s a travesty that crew got another chance after the Sugar Bowl. They should be shot into the sun.
I was cheering for ND, but the amount of holding committed by y’all’s OL that didn’t get called was exceptional. To that, it seems like CFB officiating has finally reached its tipping point. I have no idea what the realistic solution is, but there’s entirely too much on the line these days to continue trotting out these clown crews while acting like there’s nothing that can be done to improve upon it.
holding hasn't been called correctly in CFB for a long time now. It's pretty consistent how egregious a hold needs to be on a passing play to get called.
Additionally, the PI call to negate the late ND INT was 100% the correct call based on the rule book. The contact was not inconsequential and the DB never turned his head around to try to play the football. That said, *something* has to happen to stop rewarding underthrown footballs. It’s one of the biggest scourges on the game of football these days.
Holding has always been subjective but I feel like those PI's are always called if the defender doesn't get their head around. Having said that, this instance was about as weak as it gets, imo.
Conference specific refs is the first thing that needs to go. They can't use the excuse of reducing travel anymore. Conferences took care of that on their own.
For the record, it’s hard to tag you for some reason CB CB don’t work edit. Son of a bitch now they work. Nevermind
