The Ole Miss fans on this board are good people. That said, I hate the University of Mississippi with every fiber of my being.
I hope I’m wrong, but I think our defense gets run out of town. and I’ll never let you guys forget that the above travesty was once your mascot.
Unfortunately we're also top 5 in the country in defensive penalties though I believe. Edit: Yea we're rocking at #4 in the country for most penalty yards.
excited to watch this game. some data... Ole Miss Offense vs LSU Defense Ole Miss Defense vs LSU Offense Preview from Game on Paper Preview from CFB Insiders I have Ole Miss with a 55% win probability and would favor them by around 2.5 points; I'm expecting a wild game, like 34-31 final
I tried to solve the mascot problem at Ole Miss a month ago. I thought it was a really good concept for a mascot, but unless it’s stuck in some bureaucratic red tape, I guess they didn’t like it. We definitely need a mascot though.
I'd be interested to see a poll on what percentage of current/former students know what our official mascot is currently. We've got to be one of the few teams in the country with 3 different mascots in the last 20 years.
Not looking forward to this game as I don’t think it will be particularly close, despite ole miss’ mascot woes.
"With the Rebels checking in at No. 8 and LSU checking in at No. 10 in the Coaches Poll, this would be considered the first Top 10 Magnolia Bowl matchup since the JFK Administration (1962) and the first Top 15 showdown since 2003."
With the footnote that I have no idea who is good anymore and who should be ahead of us, I don't disagree with you. We are maybe (probably?) Top 20. But we were also fortunate to have a bye week while others had a chance to step on their own dick. That being said being "Top 10" isn't what it used to be so who knows.
The composite I put together has LSU at #12 I feel like that's about right, maybe not a top 10 team today, but talented and better than the vast majority of the sport and probably the 5th to 8th best team in the SEC after Texas, Bama, UGa, and Tennessee LSU, Ole Miss, A&M, and Mizz are all in that next tier down imho
A Revolutionary War era Colonel. Few color tweaks to the uniform( tans to grey, splash of red) gives you our exact color scheme, and you have a new Colonel Reb without any confederacy/ slavery connotations.
I definitely think a wardrobe change to highlight Mississippi’s overlooked impact on the American Revolution will eliminate any perceived association of the state with slavery.
Fair enough, but I’m talking about the mascot, not the state. Colonel Reb was a plantation owner, obviously a slavery/ confederate association. A revolutionary war colonel could at least be American rebels who fought for freedom instead. Also, I never said Mississippi had any impact on the revolution, but last I checked California wasn’t around to help Troy, and Michigan didn’t exist when Sparta was running Greece. It’s a mascot. Maybe it’s a terrible idea, but to me at least it works and solves some problems.
Our tent is right next to one of the guys bankrolling the “Colonel Reb Foundation,” and Gadsden Flags would not be out of place. They always have some dude come by in the stinky-ass 25 year old suit. It’s repulsive.
It's all over the place so we won't know at a lot of spots until gameday - starting LT definitely out but the backup is experienced - Princely (DE) who is our highest projected draft pick is probably out.
I don't expect either CJ or Hilton to suit up. Some of the young guys are going to have to step up for this vertical game to roll.
I’m glad Matt Jones isn’t an option. He must be the best practice player of all time because he sucks ass at finding a hole in games.
I have this fear that the game goes like 2022 — we jump out to a lead early and then get throttled in the second half.
